Curriculum

The curriculum of the Master of Maritime Administration and Logistics (MMAL) degree has the flexibility to meet the needs and goals of the students.

Students are assumed to be familiar with the basic accounting, finance, intermediate statistics, microeconomics and the essential elements of the management process.  The concepts in these courses are central to the courses that compose this graduate program.  If students enrolling in the graduate program are not familiar with the contents of these courses, they should prepare themselves with the following undergraduate courses (Texas A&M University designators given) or equivalent courses.  These courses are common to many curricula and are found on most 4-year campuses.

There are two broadly defined modules: Shipping and Port Management and Maritime Policy and Law.  A total of 5 module courses (15 credits) are required in addition to the 21 credits in the core requirements.  With the advisor’s approval, a student may take courses outside of their designated module.

A thesis option is available to students who wish to pursue research in an area of particular interest.
