GIFT ACCEPTANCE FORM
[Word .doc]
In addition to the books, journals, and other materials purchased by the
Library, the collection for Texas A&M University at Galveston has been
enhanced over the years by gifts, both in kind and monetary, from
graduates, faculty, and friends of the institution. Almost every day
someone using the library is benefited by these thoughtful and kind
gifts. We are very pleased to continue and solicit for this activity.
Our rules for accepting gifts are governed by the Gift Acceptance
Procedures of the TAMUG Development Office whose complete policies are
available on the Web at:
http://www.tamug.edu/Develop/ . Following are procedures for In Kind
gifts to the Library, which come from the In Kind policies of the Campus
Development/External Relations department.
An In-Kind gift is defined as any non-cash item such as books, or
journals, or other item of value that is not cash.
Per University regulations, only the Development Office can acknowledge
or receipt gifts to the University. The Development Office requires
approval of gifts IN ADVANCE of their coming to the University. The
Library Director will be pleased to work with potential donors to assist
with the details of giving. In general, donors will be requested to
provide the following information:
1) A description of the material to be given and any designation they
require.
2) A statement that the donor does not expect anything in return for the
gift
3) A statement that the gift will become wholly the property of Texas
A&M University at Galveston and may be disposed of in a manner the
University or the Library deems appropriate.
The Library cannot always use materials that are offered. They may
duplicate something we already have; they may be in poor condition; or
they may simply be outside of the areas we collect. We endeavor to
ascertain that before you bring them to the Library.
Please contact the Library Director, Natalie Wiest, at (409)740-4567 or
