We created this team in 2013 with the hopes of spreading the sport of lacrosse to the South, and Galveston in particular. Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and has a solid foothold in Texas. With more and more high schools fielding teams, a team here at A&M Galveston provides both those experienced players and guys new to the sport with a place to learn and play.

Thanks to an influx of Freshman who had played before, for the first time TAMUG was able to field a team in the Gulf Coast Lacrosse Association. Playing alongside the Pearland Panthers, the TAMUG Lacrosse team plays games all over Houston. A multi-state club lacrosse association, the GCLA offers play against diverse teams from around the region, and fosters the expansion of lacrosse in the South. Thanks to the rapid growth of lacrosse in Texas, and the constant expansion of Texas A&M University at Galveston, the team has grown just this year. In just two semesters, we've managed to double our roster, picking up experienced players and grooming new players. It is our hopes that for the 2014 GCLA season, we will field an independent TAMUG team.

As we look towards the future, we see TAMUG growing into a substantially sized campus. With this growth, it is safe to say that more and more guys interested in playing lacrosse will come to A&M. For this reason we are looking into joining the Lone Star Alliance, the Southern conference of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association. The MCLA is the governing body for intercollegiate club lacrosse teams. For more information about the LSA and the MCLA, follow this link to the LSA home page.
