Herbie!!!
This is really a fairly mild "herbie", which is what blizzards are called down here. Winds are steady at 25, gusting to about 45 knots. Air temperature is minus 12 degrees Celsius, windchill is about minus 45 degrees.
Are you sure you want to step outside?
If you have to venture outside, it is very important to wear proper gear, like this heavy parka with a big, strong hood, snow goggles, and heavy mittens.
It is difficult to walk around outside in the blowing snow. The ground is barely visible, and this is more like walking around at night with little or no light.
Mike is uncovering the snowmobiles to prepare for a trip...
Both snowmobile start....
but one of them is stuck in the snow, partly because of the heavy sled.
Bill comes to the rescue with a shovel. He has to hold the shovel tightly, or it will be blown right out of his hands!
It takes the efforts of four people digging and pulling to get the snowmobile out of the snow drift.
After the skidoos are dug out, Mike and Max are off through the blowing snow along the flagged road.
Matt walks back to the Jamesway, next to the six-foot flags that have almost entirely drifted over.
