This image is a composite of two separate photos. The upper portion of the composite image shows an older prototype LHX tag next to a swiss army pocket knife for size comparison. The tag is about 20 cm long, with rounded ends, and has a diameter of near 3 cm closer to the tips of the tag, except for the middle section which has a wider diameter of near 5 cm. By comparison, the red swiss army pocket knife is a little less than half the total length of the tag. Most of the tag is white, one end is bright orange for visibility, and has an address and information label visible under the clear epoxy cover. The lower portion of the composite image shows the final design of the LHX tag, but to a different, larger scale than the upper image. The LHX tag in this lower portion of the image is completely cylindrical with hemispherical ends. Most of the tag is gray, while the left end shows part of a battery with identification label and various electronic parts through clear resin. The whole tag is covered in shiny smooth resin. To give an accurate comparison of the size of these two tags, the outline of the final tag desin is superimposed over the larger and older design in the upper portion of the composite image. One can see that the new design is a simpler geometric design - cylindrical rather than with a wide waist for floatation, and also substantially smaller, and has a narrower diamater.
