We try to raise someone on the solar-powered HF radio - our only means of communication - on Santa Cruz Island. Since it is Saturday after our scheduled weekly checkin, nobody at the Darwin Station responds. Henry - a friend who runs a small restaurant on Santa Cruz and Ham Radio fan - good old Henry reponds and promises to alert some folks. The nearest boat, in case we need to evacuate, is about 36 hours away.
