Description of Duties  & Responsibilities

Funds are available to support three or more undergraduate students to conduct research with TAMUG Faculty members for Fall 2013 through Summer I 2014. A maximum of one student application per faculty member will be considered. The fellowship is to provide research experience for the undergraduate students. Recipients will be required to present project results at the TAMUS Student Pathways Symposium or at the TAMUG Student Poster Session. The support will be in the form of a  Student Technician position. This is a bi-weekly position and timesheets are required. The hourly wage will be $9.00 per hour for up to 20 hours per week. If the student is working on campus in another  department, they are able to work a total of 20 hours per week between the two departments. Final timesheets must be submitted to Time Traq by noon, July 9, 2014.  Application materials must be submitted by 4:00pm on Friday, September 27, 2013. Applicants should e-mail one complete pdf file to Carolyn Herman at hermanc@tamug.edu and one paper copy to the Research and Graduate Studies Office by the deadline. All requested materials must be submitted to be eligible for the support. Late applications will not be accepted. Preference will be given to students who have been accepted into the TAMU Undergraduate Research Scholar Program and/or the TAMUG Honors Program. In general, student may not receive support from the TIO program in multiple years.

Job Qualifications

To be eligible, student must: Be a Junior or Senior (not graduating prior to May 2014), have a GPA 3.00 ≥ overall A&M, be registered full-time, have a faculty sponsor for the proposed project, be available to work 10 hours/week on the project. Application materials must be typed and include: 1) Application form , 2) Narrative (not to exceed 500 words, double spaced, 12pt) in the style appropriate to scientific discipline with a. Title of Research, b. Description of Research (include Objectives and Methodology), c. Benefit to Student’s Education and 3) Letter of Support from Faculty Sponsor.
