Position Details

Organize, supervise and conduct a series marine geological investigations both within the Gulf of Mexico and with estuaries, including ultra high resolution marine geophysical survey involving the collection of side scan sonar, swath bathymetry and chirp seismic data, including processing of data and generation of final research products.   This work will also include the collection of vibracores and gravity cores, the processing and analyses of these cores and generation of final research products.  In addition, the applicant will be responsible for bringing both the geological and geophysical data together to generate coherent and integrated research products, including final reports to agency sponsors and the generation of publishable peer review articles for academic journals.  The applicant will also be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a research laboratory, and may be involved with teaching of undergraduates and graduate students both in formal class room settings as well as seminars and as a mentor.

Prefered Education and Experience

PhD in Oceanography or other marine related science. Ability to operate and interpret output of geologic investigative equipment and formulate that information into final reports and publishable articles.  Ability to manage a laboratory.  Teaching experience.
