Position Description |
The Department of Marine Biology at Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) invites applicants for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in an appropriate area of biology and is expected to develop a strong extramurally funded research program in an area relevant to marine cell biology. The individual selected will contribute meaningfully to the department's undergraduate and graduate education mission through mentoring of students and teaching of courses in cell biology and in their area of specialization. Areas of specialization are open but could include toxicology, development, cell signaling, organelle biogenesis and function, evolution and eukaryotic genomics at the cellular level, with emphasis on marine organisms. |

Education, Experience and Expectations |
Ph.D. in an appropriate area of biology and is expected to develop a strong extramurally funded research program in an area relevant to marine cell biology. A history of receiving competitive grants will be viewed favorably, as TAMU is one of two state-supported Tier One research institutions in Texas. |

Appointment |
The appointment at TAMUG, a branch campus of TAMU College Station, with comprehensive emphasis on education and research related to the ocean. With ca. 2,000 students, the campus offers a wide spectrum of ocean-based programs to students, including Marine Science, Maritime Administration, Maritime Studies, Maritime Systems Engineering, the Texas Maritime Academy, and a small fleet of vessels devoted to supporting ocean-related programs, in addition to undergraduate and graduate degrees in Marine Biology, Graduate appointments are available in the Marine Biology Interdisciplinary (Graduate) Degree program as well as in appropriate TAMU departments (Wildlife and Fisheries Science, Oceanography, Biology, etc.) in College Station.
