Information for Incoming Graduate Students

2017 Fall Graduate Student Orientation

New Graduate Student Orientation for Fall 2017 will be held on Tuesday, August 15th. Classes begin for the Fall semester on Monday, August 28th.  All incoming students should plan to attend orientation.

2017 Teaching Assistant Institute (TAI)

TA Institute (TAI) is a mandatory requirement for any student planning to serve in a Graduate Assistant-Teaching (GAT) position during the 2016-2017 school year. Representatives from Texas A&M University’s Center for Teaching Excellence will be giving a full day training workshop for new TAs on Wednesday, August 16th in Galveston.

Human Resources Workshop

If this is the first semester that you are on an assistantship, please plan to attend the Human Resources Workshop on Wednesday, August 23rd starting at 9 am in the Powell Marine Engineering Complex (PMEC) Room 242.  This all day event will include lunch.  Domestic employees should bring their original social security card and their driver’s license.  International employees should bring all their documents.
