Export Control

Exports are generally understood as the transport or shipment of material to another country. Deemed exports are understood to be the release of certain controlled information to foreign persons and entities either located in or out of the United States. During oversees travel, graduate students may inadvertently export materials, equipment or data that can be subject to export control. This is the case with computers, tablets, GPS devices, and other commonly used items or data stored in such elements.  Before traveling overseas, University employees are required to identify and disclose the export of equipment to identify and prevent such potential export control issues by completing and submitting a few forms prior to traveling.
