The Department of General Academics

The Department of General Academics offers the Bachelor of Arts in Maritime Studies (MAST), the only B.A. degree curriculum library photoat Texas A&M University at Galveston. This is also the academic department for undeclared majors, a program designed for students who are not ready to declare a major.

The Department welcomes students who start out in a major, find that it does not meet their expectations, and realize that they need time to reassess their academic goals. While participating in this program, students may explore any academic area they choose. A faculty advisor is ready to help them select courses that satisfy requirements in all majors while enjoying the freedom of choosing from an "open" curriculum.
