Customer Service

In 1999, the Texas Legislature passed SB 1563 which requires state agencies, including institutions of higher education, to measure customer satisfaction with the service provided by that agency.  Areas to be reviewed include such things as facility cleanliness, staff knowledge, quality of communications, the accessibility of the campus website and the handling of customer complaints.  The information is to be gathered and reported no later than June 1 of each even numbered year.

Texas A&M University at Galveston incorporates a customer service component into each campus department's institutional effectiveness plans, which are reviewed and updated annually.  The outcomes that are reported on this particular component serve as the basis for the required customer service report.  Each department has the latitude to define the component to meet their needs.
