FAQs

How do you keep track of meal plans?

Each student on a meal plan is assigned an account in our meal plan computer program.  Your I.D. is then encoded with your account number.  At the main computer terminal, your I.D. is scanned and your meal plan is deducted accordingly.

What happens to the meals that I do not eat during the week?
The meals do not carry over from week to week. The meal plan resets on Monday mornings. Meal plan prices are based on a formula including a missed meal factor. If everyone used 100% of their meal plan, the price of the meal plans would be higher.

When can I use my meal plan?
The meal plans begin on the first day of classes and end after the last meal on the last day of exams.  The meal plan does not include the four-day weekend of Thanksgiving and the week of Spring Break (including the weekends prior and after Spring Break).

Where can I eat if I have a conflict of schedule?
If for some reason your scheduled classes conflict with the dining services meal times, your next option will be to utilize take out meals.

Are there any exemptions from the meal plan?
We are able to prepare most specialized diets prescribed by your physician.  Thus, it is very rare for an exemption to be granted.  Any such requests should be submitted in writing, along with your physician's detailed diet prescription to the Dining Services office.  Your request will be reviewed in a timely manner.  If we cannot meet your needs, an exemption will be granted.

Can I take food out of the cafeteria?
If you are unable to eat your meal in the cafeteria, you may select a boxed meal or a take out meal from the daily menu.  You will receive an entree box and a smaller box which can be used salads.  You will make your selections from the prepared hot and salad lines.  The take out option is not an "all you can eat" option. The student's ID card is required for this option, a meal will be deducted from your meal plan. If you are able to eat your meal in the cafeteria, and you do so; additional "take-out" meals will not be permitted unless you swipe your card again.

Can I enter the cafeteria without a meal card?

Can a friend use my I.D. card to eat?
I.D. cards are not transferable and may only be used by the I.D. holder. You may use the I.D. in order to utilize one of your Hospitality Meals for a friend or relative that is not on the meal plan.

What happens if I lose my I.D. card?
You should report it to the Dining Services Office so we can suspend activity on your account.  On weekends, inform the cashier as soon as possible.  Students are required to replace their I.D. cards in the Admissions Office and revalidate their I.D. cards in the Dining Services Office.

How do I get to eat if my I.D. is not ready?
Come to the Dining Services Office and we will issue a temporary pass.

Can I use my meal card to eat the same meal twice on the same day?
YES!

Is there a printed menu that informs what is being served daily?

Yes!  You will also be able to print the menus from this website.  Menus will be as accurate as possible, however, there may be occasional substitutions due to product availability.

Is is true that I can eat unlimited servings?

YES! It is true!!  The dining center features "unlimited seconds" at all meals except premium dinners.  Dining Services reserves the right to limit the number of servings at special event meals.  It is your responsibility to take only what you can reasonably eat at any meal.  To facilitate service, only one entree at a time will be served to a patron through the service area unless additional is specifically requested.

Does my opinion count?

YES!  Let us know how we are doing.  Students and guests are encouraged to contact any facility manager or supervisor.  Our department has an "open door" policy and your visit and suggestions are welcomed.  We appreciate both positive, as well as, constructive opinions.  Visit our Surveys page.
