Scholarship Information

All scholarships awarded from TAMUG are based on the student's admission application information (Texas Common Application), specific areas considered are: grades, class standing, ACT/SAT scores, and activities. Please apply for admission as soon as possible and be sure to include all extracurricular and leadership activities. March is the deadline to receive your acceptance letter in order to be considered in the first selection group of scholarships for the upcoming academic year.

For more information on individual scholarship opportunities, click the scholarship names listed below. Scholarships marked with an (*) do not require an additional application as your application to the university serves as your application for the scholarship. These scholarships are considered to be competitive. Scholarships marked with two (**) do require an additional application. These are available for download below the name of the scholarship.

  • Minimum of 30 hours completed at a Texas community college
  • Must have financial need as demonstrated by the FAFSA

The Abe and Peggy J. Levy Foundation Fellowship **

  • You must be a Texas resident
  • You must be a new freshman
  • All materials must be received by March 16

Rudy T. Merit Scholarship **

$2,000

Kempner Maritime Fellowship **

  • You must be admitted to TAMUG as a first-time freshman
  • You must be admitted to the Texas Maritime Academy
  • Deadline is March 16

The amount awarded is based upon the financial need according to FAFSA information.

Local Scholarships:
We encourage all students to apply for scholarships from local organizations such as the Lions Club, Band Boosters, local Aggie Moms Club, etc. The web resources page provides links to scholarship search engines. Students who have received a local scholarship should forward all scholarship funds to:

When received, scholarship funds will be credited to your billing statement. The funds will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters, unless otherwise directed by the organization granting the scholarship.

We welcome all types of scholarship or fellowship funds and encourage you to apply for any local scholarships which you may be eligible for.
