The Abe and Peggy J. Levy Foundation will provide up to $10,000 per academic year for a maximum of four years for up to four outstanding students each year. Please read the conditions listed below before applying. This program is available only for Texas Residents who are first-time freshman at Texas A&M University at Galveston and is based upon your academic background and goals. Financial need is not considered.
The Abe and Peggy J. Levy Foundation will have access to all information submitted in your application file, including your high school transcript(s), test scores, and all written materials. This program does not, and will not, discriminate against any applicant because of race, color, religion, sex, age, marital status, national origin, condition of handicap, veteran or disabled veteran status.
Conditions for Award:
- Carry a FULL-TIME course load and complete AT LEAST 12 credit hours per semester.
- Maintain academic grades of at least a "B" average each semester, which equates to a 3.00 Grade Point Ratio (GPR). Failure to produce grades satisfactory to the Foundation, and with no extenuating circumstances warranting consideration, will mean that you will be placed on probation for the next semester. Should an improvement in grades not be evident at the end of that semester, you may be dropped from the program.
- Abide by the rules and regulations of your college or university as defined by the Administration and be in good standing at all times with the school.
- Keep the Foundation notified of your mailing address and report any changes in your personal circumstances which may affect your ability to attend college.
- Advise the Foundation after registration each semester of the courses in which you are enrolled, and notify the Foundation immediately of dropping a course or withdrawal from the University.
- The fellowship may be used for undergraduate work at Texas A&M University at Galveston only.
- You must be a resident of the State of Texas.
- Fellowships which are not applied to the purpose for which they are awarded must be returned to the Foundation.
- If awarded this fellowship and a combination of awards which totals more than the resident Cost of Attendance: awards must be reduced, starting with University awarded scholarships and, if necessary, this fellowship.

This fellowship program was funded to encourage and support maritime education. Texas A&M University at Galveston graduates provide vital services in every facet of the maritime industry. Upon graduation, maritime students often find jobs in the deep-sea, tug, and barge fleet. Ashore, graduates can be found working in areas as diverse as marine insurance, port authorities, environmental protection, ship design, building, and repair. The maritime program at Texas A&M University at Galveston is one of only six in the entire United States and the only one located on the Gulf of Mexico. All incoming freshmen enrolled in the licensed option (LO) program may apply. *Selections are made from submitted scholarship applications.

What is the Terry Foundation Scholarship?
Howard and Nancy Terry were long-time residents of Houston, where Mr. Terry was successful in a variety of businesses, ranging from banking to oil and gas. In 1986, the Terry family decided to help young people to help themselves by setting up an educational foundation. Mr. Terry had always been grateful for the financial assistance that enabled him to go to college, so they decided to dedicate their time and resources to giving future generations of young people in Texas this same opportunity.
Terry Traditional Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen
Terry Traditional applications will be accepted until January 25, 2019.The Terry Traditional Scholarship will cover the Texas A&M University at Galveston cost of attendance and is offered for up to 8 full semesters of undergraduate education.
To be considered for a Terry Traditional Scholarship, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

Terry Transfer Scholarship
Terry Transfer applications will be accepted until March 29, 2019.
The Terry Transfer Scholarship will cover 65 percent of the TAMU Galveston cost of attendance and is offered for up to 6 full semesters of undergraduate education.
To be considered for a Terry Transfer Scholarship, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Demonstrate strong academic abilities (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from current institution).

Henry wrote, “My decision to attend TAMUG was influenced by me love of ocean. I have always been amazed and entertained by marine life. When I found a career that could incorporate my two interests-- marine and engineering, I was quickly convinced that TAMUG was the only place for me.” His list of things to do included joining an engineering society. He felt it was important to grow as leader and a member of his profession. Henry believed in committing himself whole-heartedly to a task and putting his best effort into it. Family and friends of the late Mr. Robert Troy Swetnam, a student at Texas A&M University at Galveston, from 1982-1983, have provided funds for an endowment to establish the Robert Troy Swetnam Memorial Endowment Fund. Income from the initial endowment and any future contributions into the endowment will be used to support an annual award to an outstanding junior or senior level student in the marine sciences. In accordance with the donor’s wishes, Texas A&M University at Galveston, a part of the Texas A&M University System, has assumed responsibility for administering the endowment in accordance with the Texas A&M University System investment policies. It has also assumed responsibility for making the final selection of the awardee and for presenting the award at the annual convocation or another appropriate occasion.

Dr. Sammy Ray was associated with Texas A&M University for almost 40 years. He was director of the Texas A&M Marine Laboratory in Galveston from 1963 through 1972 and was principally responsible for keeping the research and teaching programs alive in the early days of the laboratory. His efforts ultimately culminated in the creation of the Texas A&M University at Galveston campus.

Houston Underwater Club, an organization dedicated to furthering sport diving and activities relating to mans' involvement in the underwater environment, first presented an underwater film festival to the public in 1969. The film festival became an annual event, and it was expanded from solely underwater film activities to other sport diving and aquatic activities, with a mission to educate the public in diving skills, dive safety, marine life, underwater photography, marine environments, and to expose the public to marine travel destination. SeaSpace Inc. was formed, and the annual underwater festival transformed to "SeaSpace Weekend." For over 35 years, SeaSpace sponsored SeaSpace Weekend, and the funds raised from the weekend events were used to provide scholarship to students enrolled in marine and aquatic programs at United States universities, and to provide grants to eligible marine and aquatic organizations. In 1990, SeaSpace was incorporated as a 501 (C) (3) non-profit corporation. After SeaSpace weekend was discontinued in 2005, the Board of Directors of SeaSpace, Inc. decided to endow the Texas A&M Foundation and Texas A&M University as Galveston with the Permanent Education Funds for investment, administration, and scholarship and grant awards.

The G&H Towing intern scholarship program will recognize students who demonstrate the achievement and leadership ability to successfully pursue careers in the ship assist tug industry. Top junior and senior students (preferably 3 deck and 1 engine) will be selected to receive a cruise stipend based on specific criteria. The program will be promoted during corps activity period in the early fall semester to all students who have completed junior cruise. 1) Students will apply to G&H towing by early October for internship positions. 2) G&H will select up to 12 participants, 3) all participants will complete a minimum of 8 days, either during Christmas, spring break, or weekends. By early April, a representative from G&H Towing will meet with the commandant and deputy commandant of the Corps of Cadets to select scholarship recipients. Each award will be applied to senior cruise cost.*Prior to final exams, the four recipients will visit the Pelican Island G&H Facility to shadow the Port Captain or Port Engineer for a day.

The William P. Ricker Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to recognize leadership and excellence among students. This scholarship is awarded to individuals demonstrating the promise and commitment of William Paul Ricker, a Corp Commander at the time of his death. Ricker served as a Corp Commander from 1974-1975 and was killed in a tragic automobile accident. The Ricker family estate established an endowment which funds this scholarship. This scholarship provides two scholarships. One of these scholarships shall be restricted to full-time students in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston ("TAMUG") in Galveston, Texas. The second scholarship may also fund a full-time undergraduate student in good standing, or may be used to fund an incoming graduate student in Marine Biology if, without the scholarship, the student would not have funding or be able to enroll in the graduate Marine Biology program.

Dr. Sammy Ray was associated with Texas A&M University for almost 40 years. Founded in 2014, the Graduate Ambassador Program serves as an opportunity for student leaders to act as liaisons for the Graduate Studies Office in the roles of recruiter and advocate for the Galveston graduate student population.
Purpose:
As recruiters, ambassadors play a critical role in promoting Texas A&M University Galveston Campus to prospective graduate students. Our Ambassadors lead tours, participate in graduate fairs, and address prospective student questions via email. As advocates, ambassadors are the eyes and ears of the graduate student body. They bring concerns and issues to the Graduate Studies Office. In addition, they assist with events that promote the graduate student community like Howdy Lunch and Graduate Student Appreciation Week.
Awards:
Each ambassador will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the 2017-2018 academic year as well as a Graduate Ambassador polo and magnet name badge. The award is split over two semesters ($500 in fall and $500 in spring). If an ambassador does not meet the 15 volunteer hour requirement in the fall semester, the scholarship will not be paid out during the spring semester.

Each semester, an ambassador should work 15 hours. Hours can be gained through mandatory events, optional events, and email correspondences to prospective students.

Description:
Houston Underwater Club, an organization dedicated to furthering sport diving and activities relating to mans' involvement in the underwater environment, first presented an underwater film festival to the public in 1969. The film festival became an annual event, and it was expanded from solely underwater film activities to other sport diving and aquatic activities, with a mission to educate the public in diving skills, dive safety, marine life, underwater photography, marine environments, and to expose the public to marine travel destination. SeaSpace Inc. was formed, and the annual underwater festival transformed to "SeaSpace Weekend." For over 35 years, SeaSpace sponsored SeaSpace Weekend, and the funds raised from the weekend events were used to provide scholarship to students enrolled in marine and aquatic programs at United States universities, and to provide grants to eligible marine and aquatic organizations. In 1990, SeaSpace was incorporated as a 501 (C) (3) non-profit corporation. After SeaSpace weekend was discontinued in 2005, the Board of Directors of SeaSpace, Inc. decided to endow the Texas A&M Foundation and Texas A&M University as Galveston with the Permanent Education Funds for investment, administration, and scholarship and grant awards.
