The Abe and Peggy J. Levy Foundation will provide up to $10,000 per academic year for a maximum of four years for up to four outstanding students each year. Please read the conditions listed below before applying. This program is available only for Texas Residents who are first-time freshman at Texas A&M University at Galveston and is based upon your academic background and goals. Financial need is not considered.

The Abe and Peggy J. Levy Foundation will have access to all information submitted in your application file, including your high school transcript(s), test scores, and all written materials. This program does not, and will not, discriminate against any applicant because of race, color, religion, sex, age, marital status, national origin, condition of handicap, veteran or disabled veteran status.

Conditions for Award:

  1. Carry a FULL-TIME course load and complete AT LEAST 12 credit hours per semester.
  2. Maintain academic grades of at least a "B" average each semester, which equates to a 3.00 Grade Point Ratio (GPR). Failure to produce grades satisfactory to the Foundation, and with no extenuating circumstances warranting consideration, will mean that you will be placed on probation for the next semester. Should an improvement in grades not be evident at the end of that semester, you may be dropped from the program.
  3. Abide by the rules and regulations of your college or university as defined by the Administration and be in good standing at all times with the school.
  4. Keep the Foundation notified of your mailing address and report any changes in your personal circumstances which may affect your ability to attend college.
  5. Advise the Foundation after registration each semester of the courses in which you are enrolled, and notify the Foundation immediately of dropping a course or withdrawal from the University.
  6. The fellowship may be used for undergraduate work at Texas A&M University at Galveston only.
  7. You must be a resident of the State of Texas.
  8. Fellowships which are not applied to the purpose for which they are awarded must be returned to the Foundation.
  9. If awarded this fellowship and a combination of awards which totals more than the resident Cost of Attendance: awards must be reduced, starting with University awarded scholarships and, if necessary, this fellowship.

Captain Karl P. Fanning Endowed Scholarship

Description:

Distributions from this endowment will be used to provide one or more scholarships to incoming freshman in the Corps of Cadets at TAMUG, based on academic standing and financial need, as determined by the scholarship selection committee. The scholarship is renewable for no more than four years, as long as the cadet remains enrolled full-time at TAMUG and maintains acceptable grades. If the student is placed on academic probation, the scholarship is forfeited and will be awarded to a new entering freshman. If the student does not graduate in four years, the scholarship shall not be extended.

George P. Mitchell Society Scholarship

Description:

This scholarship was established by the George P. Mitchell Society to provide one or more scholarships to full time students in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University at Galveston. The George P. Mitchell Society Scholarships are based on the legacy of George Mitchell and ongoing support from the Mitchell Family of business through the Galveston Mardi Gras Party that continues to fund the George Mitchell Society.  This scholarship is renewable for four years.

Kempner Maritime Undergraduate Fellowship

Description:

This fellowship program was funded to encourage and support maritime education.  Texas A&M University at Galveston graduates provide vital services in every facet of the maritime industry.  Upon graduation, maritime students often find jobs in the deep-sea, tug, and barge fleet.  Ashore, graduates can be found working in areas as diverse as marine insurance, port authorities, environmental protection, ship design, building, and repair.  The maritime program at Texas A&M University at Galveston is one of only six in the entire United States and the only one located on the Gulf of Mexico. All incoming freshmen enrolled in the licensed option (LO) program may apply. *Selections are made from submitted scholarship applications.

Mary and Robert N. Walker Endowed Scholarship

Description:

This scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Robert F. Smith who was a math professor from 1882-1931.  He lived in Galveston for 40 years.  He loved the sea, hence the scholarship for students majoring in Marine Sciences.

Terry Foundation Scholarship

What is the Terry Foundation Scholarship?

Howard and Nancy Terry were long-time residents of Houston, where Mr. Terry was successful in a variety of businesses, ranging from banking to oil and gas. In 1986, the Terry family decided to help young people to help themselves by setting up an educational foundation. Mr. Terry had always been grateful for the financial assistance that enabled him to go to college, so they decided to dedicate their time and resources to giving future generations of young people in Texas this same opportunity.

Terry Traditional Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen

Terry Traditional applications will be accepted until January 25, 2019.

The Terry Traditional Scholarship will cover the Texas A&M University at Galveston cost of attendance and is offered for up to 8 full semesters of undergraduate education.

To be considered for a Terry Traditional Scholarship, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrate financial need by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).
  • Be admitted as an incoming freshman to Texas A&M University at Galveston for the fall semester after high school graduation.

  • Be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.

  • Attend a Texas high school or home school in Texas.

  • Have strong academic abilities as evidence in your grades and SAT/ACT test scores.

  • Have a record of leadership in school and in the community.

Terry Transfer Scholarship

Terry Transfer applications will be accepted until March 29, 2019.

The Terry Transfer Scholarship will cover 65 percent of the TAMU Galveston cost of attendance and is  offered for up to 6 full semesters of undergraduate education.

To be considered for a Terry Transfer Scholarship, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Demonstrate strong academic abilities (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from current institution).
  • Be a Texas resident.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
  • Have current, continuous residency in the State of Texas for at least 3 years at the time of the application.
  • Have completed at least 30 hours of transferable credit (post-high school) in residence at a Texas college or university at the time of application.
  • Be at least 20 years of age on May 1 of the year in which the application is submitted.
  • Have applied and been admitted to Texas A&M University at Galveston for the upcoming summer or fall semester for the purpose of seeking a first baccalaureate degree.
  • Demonstrate a record of leadership and service.

Description:

Students are required to have a 3.5 GPA or higher and the student must be a current member of Phi Theta Kappa and enroll at TAMUG the semester following graduation from a community college with an Associate of Arts or and Associates of Science degree.

Bernice E. Powell Maritime Education Scholarship

Description

Bernice E. Powell was a Houstonian of modest means who died December 1, 1997. The Powell Educational Trust funds are specifically used for the benefit of individuals who desire a college or post graduate education in any field of study but do not have the financial means or source of funds to provide such education.

Christopher Little Scholarship

Description    

This scholarship provides one scholarship to a junior or senior pursuing a degree in Marine Sciences, Marine Biology or Ocean and Coastal Resources from TAMUG.

Henry Jacob Jones Memorial Scholarship

Description:

Henry wrote, “My decision to attend TAMUG was influenced by me love of ocean. I have always been amazed and entertained by marine life. When I found a career that could incorporate my two interests-- marine and engineering, I was quickly convinced that TAMUG was the only place for me.” His list of things to do included joining an engineering society. He felt it was important to grow as leader and a member of his profession. Henry believed in committing himself whole-heartedly to a task and putting his best effort into it. He loved being with and helping his friends and others! He was a Christian and loved his country. Henry wanted to make the world a better place through his career and his compassion for his friends and others. We hope these characteristics and concerns of Henry can be carried on through his scholarship.

James R. Young Memorial Scholarship

Description:

The James R. Young Memorial Scholarship provides one or more scholarships to a junior pursuing any degree from TAMUG. The student must have made a significant contribution to campus life, student activities, or student organizations.

  • Required: Junior with no less than one year of enrollment remaining before graduation
  • Required: Any major
  • Required: Minimum 2.5 GPR
  • Required: Leadership
  • Required: Student must have made a significant contribution to the quality of campus life, student activities, or student organizations.
Robert Troy Swetnam Memorial Scholarship

Description:

Family and friends of the late Mr. Robert Troy Swetnam, a student at Texas A&M University at Galveston, from 1982-1983, have provided funds for an endowment to establish the Robert Troy Swetnam Memorial Endowment Fund. Income from the initial endowment and any future contributions into the endowment will be used to support an annual award to an outstanding junior or senior level student in the marine sciences. In accordance with the donor’s wishes, Texas A&M University at Galveston, a part of the Texas A&M University System, has assumed responsibility for administering the endowment in accordance with the Texas A&M University System investment policies. It has also assumed responsibility for making the final selection of the awardee and for presenting the award at the annual convocation or another appropriate occasion.

Criteria:

  • Required: Junior or Senior (60 credit hours (including transfer hours and credit by examination))
  • Required: U.S. Citizen
  • Required: Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Required: Demonstrate evidence of initiative, potential for success in a marine science profession, and other traits of good character
  • Required: Be pursuing a degree in a marine science curriculum. Marine Sciences is used in generic sense and shall include such specialties as geology, biology, chemistry, or oceanography (All non-license students)

  • Preferred: Preference will be given to a student NOT receiving other scholarships
  • Preferred: In the event of multiple equally qualified candidates, financial need should be considered

Sea Aggie Partners in Excellence Endowed Scholarship

Description:

The Sea Aggie Partners in Excellence Endowed Scholarship was established in 2003 by various donors recognize the freshmen student(s) deemed to have been most successful as a first year student at Texas A&M University at Galveston. This award will recognize the student their freshman year TAMUG and excels in academics, leadership, service and student participation. The recipient should qualify as an overall outstanding student with accomplishments and balance in all areas of academic and student life providing an example that new students can strive to emulate.

Taylor Byron Roy Memorial Scholarship

Description:

This endowed award has been established by the family and friends of Taylor Byron Roy in his memory.

  • Required: Essay demonstrating the qualities and characteristics the applicant possesses that were exemplified by Taylor Byron Roy.
  • Required: Full-time enrollment
  • Required: Minimum GPA 2.0
  • Required: Junior or Senior

  • Required: Attended and graduated from home school or a public or private high school in the Kingwood area preferred *If a suitable applicant is not found from the Kingwood area, all other candidates will receive consideration provided they meet all other criteria
William Paul Ricker Student Body President Scholarship

Description:

The William P. Ricker Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to recognize leadership and excellence among students. This scholarship is awarded to individuals demonstrating the promise and commitment of William Paul Ricker, a Corp Commander at the time of his death. Ricker served as a Corp Commander from 1974-1975 and was killed in a tragic automobile accident. The Ricker family estate established an endowment which funds this scholarship. Leadership, grades, and extracurricular activities are the priority criteria for awarding this scholarship.

Criteria:

  • Required: Voted on by the student body to be the Student Body President. 
William Paul Ricker Memorial Ambassador Scholarship

Description:

The Student Ambassador Program was created for enthusiastic Sea Aggies to pursue a leadership role on campus. Student Ambassadors represent the campus by helping with recruitment and prospective student communications, such as tour guides.

Criteria:

  • Required: Full-time enrollment
  • Required: Good standing
  • Required: Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Required: Must have completed 24 credit hours at TAMUG

William Paul Ricker Memorial Leadership Scholarship

Description:

The William P. Ricker Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to recognize leadership and excellence among students. Ricker served as a Corp Commander from 1974-1975 and was killed in a tragic automobile accident. The Ricker family estate established an endowment which funds this scholarship. American Bureau of Shipping Engineering Scholarship

Description:

OCSE and MARR Programs will recognize students who demonstrate the achievement and leadership ability to successfully pursue careers in marine engineering and naval architecture.

Criteria:

  • Required: MARR or OCSE
  • Required: In exceptional circumstances, when approved by the engineering department heads, Marine Engineering Technology students may be considered. 
  • Preference: Participation/positions in student organizations, employment, community involvement
  • Required: Leadership ability to pursue careers in marine engineering/naval architecture
  • Required: Leadership ability in the marine engineering and naval architecture professions
  • will be evidenced by class papers, course experiences, internships, professional organizations, conference attendance, etc.
  • Required: Full-time enrollment
  • Required: Completion of or current enrollment in all pre-requisite courses for junior or senior level curricula. Seniors will have expected graduation dates of May, August, or December of the following year
  • Required: Juniors will have expected graduation dates of May, August, or December of the second following year
  • Required: Academic accomplishment demonstrated through GPR in engineering
  • Required Essay: Please provide a statement of how your present qualifications and experiences, as well as your future career goals, support the overall mission of the American Bureau of Shipping.
  • Renewal: If funds are available in future years, recipients will be considered for continuing awards based on their progress in the program
American Bureau of Shipping Senior Award

Description:

The American Bureau of Shipping will recognize a graduating senior from the MARR or OCSE program who demonstrates the achievement and leadership ability to successfully pursue a career in marine engineering and naval architecture.

Criteria:

  • Required: MARR or OCSE
  • Required: A graduating senior demonstrating academic and practical excellence in engineering
  • Required: The ABS Scholarship Program provides financial support to deserving engineering and naval architecture students based on GPA, class rank, leadership ability, and recommendations
  • Required: Graduating senior in May of current year
  • Preference: Naval Architecture

Carl H. Haglund and Michael E. Resner Scholarship

Description:

The Carl H. Haglund and Michael E. Resner Scholarship was established in 2017 by Carl H. Haglund and Michael Resner to provide one or more scholarships to full-time students in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marine Transportation or Marine Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University at Galveston.

Del Papa Distributing Company Scholarship

Description:

Distributions from this endowment will be used to provide a scholarship to a student enrolled in at least six credit hours in the Maritime Administration degree program at Texas A&M University at Galveston. Preference is to a Del Papa employee or employee family member who meets the eligibility requirements.

Criteria:

  • Required: At least half-time enrollment 
  • Required: Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Required: Level of community involvement and participation, either within the school community or outside in the broader community or both
  • Required: Good standing
  • Preference: MARA
  • Preference: Given to a Del Papa employee or employee family member
Don and Carol Harper Scholarship in Marine Invertebrate Zoology I

Description:

This scholarship provides two scholarships. One of these scholarships shall be restricted to full-time students in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston ("TAMUG") in Galveston, Texas. The second scholarship may also fund a full-time undergraduate student in good standing, or may be used to fund an incoming graduate student in Marine Biology if, without the scholarship, the student would not have funding or be able to enroll in the graduate Marine Biology program.

Criteria:

  • Required: Junior, Senior or Graduate Student
  • Required: Minimum 2.5 GPA in both major and curriculum
  • Required: MARB
  • Required: Have a demonstrated interest in a field of marine invertebrate research
  • Required: Have completed invertebrate zoology with a grade of B or better
  • Required: Demonstrated financial need
  • Required: For a graduate student to be eligible, the student shall have a demonstrated need for support
  • Required: For a graduate student to be eligible, the student shall have graduated from an accredited institution of higher education with a 3.0 (B) average in major and curriculum

Don and Carol Harper Scholarship in Marine Invertebrate Zoology II

Description:

Distributions from this endowment will be used to provide one or more scholarships to full-time students in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston. The selected student must have a demonstrated interest in the field of marine invertebrate research.

Criteria:

  • Required: Junior or Senior
  • Required: Minimum 2.5 GPA in both major and curriculum
  • Required: MARB

Dr. Sammy Ray was associated with Texas A&M University for almost 40 years. He was director of the Texas A&M Marine Laboratory in Galveston from 1963 through 1972 and was principally responsible for keeping the research and teaching programs alive in the early days of the laboratory. His efforts ultimately culminated in the creation of the Texas A&M University at Galveston campus.

SeaSpace Endowed Scholarship in the Marine Sciences for Undergraduates

Description:

Houston Underwater Club, an organization dedicated to furthering sport diving and activities relating to mans' involvement in the underwater environment, first presented an underwater film festival to the public in 1969.  The film festival became an annual event, and it was expanded from solely underwater film activities to other sport diving and aquatic activities, with a mission to educate the public in diving skills, dive safety, marine life, underwater photography, marine environments, and to expose the public to marine travel destination.  SeaSpace Inc. was formed, and the annual underwater festival transformed to "SeaSpace Weekend." For over 35 years, SeaSpace sponsored SeaSpace Weekend, and the funds raised from the weekend events were used to provide scholarship to students enrolled in marine and aquatic programs at United States universities, and to provide grants to eligible marine and aquatic organizations.  In 1990, SeaSpace was incorporated as a 501 (C) (3) non-profit corporation.  After SeaSpace weekend was discontinued in 2005, the Board of Directors of SeaSpace, Inc. decided to endow the Texas A&M Foundation and Texas A&M University as Galveston with the Permanent Education Funds for investment, administration, and scholarship and grant awards.

This scholarship honors the memory of S.G. Stubbs ‘42 and E.M. Overbeck ‘42 who cofounded Stubbs Overbeck and Associates in 1954. Mr. Keith Thayer, the designee of CDI-Stubbs Overbeck, was President of Stubbs Overbeck and Associates when this scholarship was established and retired as President and Chairman of the Board of CDI-Stubbs Overbeck. The recipient will be an upperclassman who is majoring in MARB, MARR, OCSE, MARA, MARS, MART, or OCRE.

The award will go to the most outstanding incoming junior student in the Propeller Club, based on academics and leadership skills, as determined by the scholarship selection committee.

Description:

This scholarship is given to an outstanding senior deck cadet student on previous summer cruise.

Criteria:

  • Required: A scholarship for the outstanding senior deck cadet on the summer cruise as selected by a majority vote of all deck officers aboard the training vessel at the conclusion of the summer cruise, with the highest ranking officer casting the winning vote in the event of a tie. In selecting the outstanding senior deck cadet, the officers shall select the student who demonstrates the most skills, knowledge, and aptitude for serving as a US Merchant Marine Officer.
Captain and Ms. Jack Smith Academic Scholarship II

Description:

This scholarship is given to an outstanding deck license option cadet and who was evaluated and selected by the instructor for Shiphandling III (MART 422). The following criteria will be used in selecting the outstanding deck cadet: the cadet who through their work in the ship simulator has best demonstrated the most skills, knowledge, and aptitude for the piloting profession. Student must have taken the course during the Fall and Spring semester of the previous year.

Captain Mark Hicks Memorial Scholarship

Description:      

This scholarship was established in memory of Captain Mark Hicks, a graduate of U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and Harbor Pilot for Port of Freeport. Captain Hicks was a member of the Brazos Pilots and was killed disembarking a ship during a storm on June 24, 1989. This scholarship was endowed as the final activity of the Propeller Club of the Port of Freeport.

Dave and Jeanne Hedgepeth Dynamic Positioning Scholarship

Description:

Distributions from this gift will be used to provide awards to full-time cadets in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in a deck license option degree program. Recipients will need to provide proof of successfully completing degree program (diploma), Dynamic Positioning Induction course (DP Induction Certificate), and all requirements of the license option program (USCG License).

G&H Towing Company Internship Scholarship

Description:

The G&H Towing intern scholarship program will recognize students who demonstrate the achievement and leadership ability to successfully pursue careers in the ship assist tug industry.  Top junior and senior students (preferably 3 deck and 1 engine) will be selected to receive a cruise stipend based on specific criteria.  The program will be promoted during corps activity period in the early fall semester to all students who have completed junior cruise.  1) Students will apply to G&H towing by early October for internship positions.  2) G&H will select up to 12 participants, 3) all participants will complete a minimum of 8 days, either during Christmas, spring break, or weekends.  By early April, a representative from G&H Towing will meet with the commandant and deputy commandant of the Corps of Cadets to select scholarship recipients. Each award will be applied to senior cruise cost.*Prior to final exams, the four recipients will visit the Pelican Island G&H Facility to shadow the Port Captain or Port Engineer for a day.

Description:

Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc. will be proving an annual scholarship in the memory of Morton S. Bouchard Jr. Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc. is the nation’s largest independently owned ocean going petroleum barge company.  This scholarship is named after Bouchard’s former President and CEO, Mr. Morton S. Bouchard Jr., who was passionate about the Maritime Industry and giving back to others. William Paul Ricker Memorial Corps Commander Scholarship

Description:

The William P. Ricker Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to recognize leadership and excellence among students. This scholarship is awarded to individuals demonstrating the promise and commitment of William Paul Ricker, a Corp Commander at the time of his death. Ricker served as a Corp Commander from 1974-1975 and was killed in a tragic automobile accident. The Ricker family estate established an endowment which funds this scholarship. Leadership, grades, and extracurricular activities are the priority criteria for awarding this scholarship.

Don and Carol Harper Scholarship in Marine Invertebrate Zoology I

Description:

This scholarship provides two scholarships. One of these scholarships shall be restricted to full-time students in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston ("TAMUG") in Galveston, Texas. The second scholarship may also fund a full-time undergraduate student in good standing, or may be used to fund an incoming graduate student in Marine Biology if, without the scholarship, the student would not have funding or be able to enroll in the graduate Marine Biology program.

Dr. Sammy M. Ray Marine Biology Scholarship

Description:

Dr. Sammy Ray was associated with Texas A&M University for almost 40 years. He was director of the Texas A&M Marine Laboratory in Galveston from 1963 through 1972 and was principally responsible for keeping the research and teaching programs alive in the early days of the laboratory. His efforts ultimately culminated in the creation of the Texas A&M University at Galveston campus.

Graduate Student Ambassador Scholarship

Description:

Founded in 2014, the Graduate Ambassador Program serves as an opportunity for student leaders to act as liaisons for the Graduate Studies Office in the roles of recruiter and advocate for the Galveston graduate student population.  

Purpose: 

As recruiters, ambassadors play a critical role in promoting Texas A&M University Galveston Campus to prospective graduate students.  Our Ambassadors lead tours, participate in graduate fairs, and address prospective student questions via email.  As advocates, ambassadors are the eyes and ears of the graduate student body.  They bring concerns and issues to the Graduate Studies Office.  In addition, they assist with events that promote the graduate student community like Howdy Lunch and Graduate Student Appreciation Week.

Awards: 

Each ambassador will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the 2017-2018 academic year as well as a Graduate Ambassador polo and magnet name badge.  The award is split over two semesters ($500 in fall and $500 in spring).  If an ambassador does not meet the 15 volunteer hour requirement in the fall semester, the scholarship will not be paid out during the spring semester. 

Requirements:

Each semester, an ambassador should work 15 hours.  Hours can be gained through mandatory events, optional events, and email correspondences to prospective students.

SeaSpace Endowed Scholarship in the Marine Sciences for Graduate Students

Description:

Houston Underwater Club, an organization dedicated to furthering sport diving and activities relating to mans' involvement in the underwater environment, first presented an underwater film festival to the public in 1969.  The film festival became an annual event, and it was expanded from solely underwater film activities to other sport diving and aquatic activities, with a mission to educate the public in diving skills, dive safety, marine life, underwater photography, marine environments, and to expose the public to marine travel destination.  SeaSpace Inc. was formed, and the annual underwater festival transformed to "SeaSpace Weekend." For over 35 years, SeaSpace sponsored SeaSpace Weekend, and the funds raised from the weekend events were used to provide scholarship to students enrolled in marine and aquatic programs at United States universities, and to provide grants to eligible marine and aquatic organizations.  In 1990, SeaSpace was incorporated as a 501 (C) (3) non-profit corporation.  After SeaSpace weekend was discontinued in 2005, the Board of Directors of SeaSpace, Inc. decided to endow the Texas A&M Foundation and Texas A&M University as Galveston with the Permanent Education Funds for investment, administration, and scholarship and grant awards.

Terry Traditional (Freshman) Scholarship

How do I apply for the Terry Scholarship and when is the deadline?

Students must complete the Apply Texas application for admissions and scholarships. You may access the application at www.applytexas.org. The deadline to submit the application is January 6, 2018. Please submit everything as soon as possible to be in the running for the Terry Foundation Scholarship. In order for you to be considered for the Terry Scholarship, you should complete all questions on the Apply Texas Application for admissions and scholarships and submit both when complete.

Is the traditional scholarship transferrable?

Traditional scholars must attend the university for which the student interviews for at least one year.

Do I need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid?

Yes, all students who are selected as Terry Traditional Scholarship recipients are REQUIRED to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

How will I know if I am selected as a potential scholarship recipient?

The Texas A&M University at Galveston Terry Scholarship Committee will send you an email if you are one of the potential students who will be forwarded to the Terry Foundation for an interview.

Are interviews required; when are they set up?

Interviews are required. Potential Terry scholarship recipients are contacted by the Terry Foundation in March to schedule the date, time and location for the interview. Interviews are typically held in mid-April. Your interview expenses will be reimbursed by the Terry Foundation.

You will receive information on these events and invitations from the Terry Foundation. You will receive a student handbook that will address in detail all the requirements.

How is the amount of the Terry Scholarship determined?

Taking into account other scholarships that a student may receive, the Foundation provides sufficient assistance to cover tuition, books, fees, and reasonable living expenses on campus. The actual specific amount of the stipend will vary for each Scholar, depending on the other scholarship awards and the ability of the Scholar’s family to contribute to the cost of college. The Foundation encourages Scholars to apply for other scholarships or grants or any other financial assistance for which they may be qualified, so that the Foundation’s financial resources may be extended to help as many students as possible; however, it is the Foundation’s intent that Traditional Scholars will not need to incur student loan debt.

What about Pell Grants?

A Pell Grant is a federal grant for undergraduate students with financial need. Terry Traditional Scholar applicants must complete the FAFSA, and Terry Scholars who qualify for Pell Grants will automatically be awarded in the financial aid awarding process. Receiving a Pell Grant does not disqualify an applicant from being awarded a Terry Scholarship.

Are Terry Traditional Scholars required to live on campus?

Yes, traditional Scholars are required to live on campus in the Terry-designated residence hall.
