Office of Student Financial Aid Fall 2008 - Spring 2009 Financial Aid Instructions PART 2
New students (Freshman and transfer students) and students with previous lenders that have dropped out of the FFELP program! You may now complete the Loans By Web - Stafford Loan Application at https://lbw.tgslc.org to receive your loan for the 08-09 academic year. You will login under: I am an undergraduate student borrower - with your (the student) social security number and date of birth. One the next screen click the blue “BEGIN” button under option 1 to complete the loan application for the loans you accepted on TAMUG My Record. If you did not accept your loans on TAMUG’S My Record it will say “There are no loans available at this time.” You can accept the loans by following the 2008-2009 Financial Aid Instructions on our website at www.tamug.edu/finaid The rest of the form should be self explanatory asking for normal application information. You should use 08/25/2008 through 05/13/2009 as the loan period. Please select a lender of your choice. If you would like more information on lenders - please visit our website at: http://www.tamug.edu/finaid/LoanLenderList.htm At the end of the process it will ask you to print or e-sign the Master Promissory Note (MPN). If you print the MPN remember to sign it and send the signed MPN to the lender address provided in the packet. Please call 1-800-845-6267 if you have any problems with Loans by Web application. The TG Staff will help you. Remember - it takes about 48 hours from the time you accept the loan on TAMUG’s My Record before you will see the loan posted on Loans By Web.
PARENTS PLUS LOAN INSTRUCTIONS 1. Parents wanting to accept their PLUS loan need to go on to Loans By Web https://lbw.tgslc.org select I am a parent borrower and supply the borrower’s (the parent) social security number and birthday. 2. Provide the students social security number and birth date when prompted. 3. Choose the “Complete a loan award” option. This page will say there are no awards available at this time under Option 1, however, at this point choose Texas A&M at Galveston from the list of schools under Option 2 and click “Create a Loan Request.” 4. At this point, you are actually filling out the PLUS loan application…the loan period is 8/25/2008 through 5/13/2009. If for any reason you do not understand these instructions or feel more comfortable being walked through the process with a person please call (800) 845-6267 and someone can assist you. 5. Make sure to e-sign or print and sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN). If you print the MPN, send it to the lender. DO NOT SEND THE MPN TO TAMUG. 6. MAKE SURE YOU ARE REQUESTING THE MONEY NEEDED FOR THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR FROM AUGUST TO MAY. 7. IF YOUR STUDENT IS GRADUATING IN THE FALL THE SPRING DISBURSEMENT WILL BE SENT BACK TO THE LENDER IN JANUARY 2009. This loan application will not be processed for approximately 48 hours. ****PLEASE NOTE MORE THAN ONE APPLICATION OUT ON LOANS BY WEB WILL CAUSE A DELAY WITH YOUR AID. ****
