Instructions
STUDENTS:
-
If you are receiving an outside
scholarship(s) (any money not coming from TAMUG) please contact us. Your
correct award letter WILL be delayed. We can be contacted at 409-740-4500.

Students must log on to
https://myfinancialaid.tamu.edu to accept whichever awards they are
interested in. They log in with the student’s Net ID and password. If
you do not all ready have a Net ID you must activate your Net ID and
password before you can accept or reject your aid. Set up your Net
ID at
https://netid.tamu.edu/cas/index.jsp to proceed.

Once logged in to
https://myfinancialaid.tamu.edu you must complete all the
information that is requested. (i.e. student data from, Title IV
statement, etc.)

Your awards will be listed under the award
tab. For any awards you would like to accept please drop down the “View
Only” box down to accept. You may have to proceed past the Parent Plus
loan to view the student awards.

If you do not want the awards
please drop the “View Only” box down to reject.

If you accepted your awards, make sure to
complete all your requirements before exiting. (i.e. entrance loan
counseling, term and conditions, etc.)

There are entrance loan counseling
sessions for both the Perkins and Stafford loans, so make sure to
complete the correct one or both if you accepted those loans.

If you were offered a Perkins loan and
accepted it then you must complete the application and promissory note
and bring it to our financial aid office or mail it Attn: Office of
Student Financial Aid to P.O. Box 1675; Galveston, TX 77553-1675.

FRESHMEN/NEW TAMUG STUDENTS:
THERE IS NOTHING ELSE YOU CAN DO UNTIL AUGUST. There will be more
instructions sent out to your NEO Email Account in an August aggnews for
those students that accepted Stafford loans. Please make sure to be
checking your NEO email account to access these instructions and
continue processing your loans.
PARENTS:

Parents wanting to accept their PLUS loan
need to go on to Loans By Web
https://lbw.tgslc.org select I am a parent borrower and supply the
borrower’s (the parent) social security number and birthday.

Provide the students social security
number and birth date when prompted.
-
Choose the “Complete a loan award”
option. This page will say there are no awards available at this time
under Option 1, however, at this point choose Texas A&M at Galveston
from the list of schools under Option 2 and click “Create a Loan
Request.”

At this point, you are actually filling
out the PLUS loan application…the loan period is 8/25/2008 through
5/13/2009. If for any reason you do not understand
these instructions or feel more comfortable being walked through the
process with a person please call (800) 845-6267 and someone can assist
you.

Make sure to e-sign or print and sign a
Master Promissory Note (MPN). If you print the MPN, send it to the
lender. DO NOT SEND THE MPN TO TAMUG.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE REQUESTING THE MONEY
NEEDED FOR THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR FROM AUGUST TO MAY.

IF YOUR STUDENT IS GRADUATING IN THE FALL
THE SPRING DISBURSEMENT WILL BE SENT BACK TO THE LENDER IN JANUARY 2009.
This loan application will not be
processed until August
