Kayaking: Explore Texas Gulf Coast Bays And Estuaries Near Galveston
Join us for flat water kayaking at its finest and most diverse! Program will begin with kayak instruction in Galveston Bay - beginners and experienced kayakers are welcome. With experienced naturalists and certified kayak instructors you will explore Christmas Bay, with its seagrass beds and Rookery Island. Enjoy another kayak excursion to Armand Bayou, which has riparian bottom land forest and is one of the largest urban parks in the country. Conclude with kayaking the Cypress Swamp on Trinity River, one of the few remaining cypress swamps in Texas. Evening presentations and study in the field highlight the various ecosystems, and natural history of the areas. Opportunity to create an illustrated nature journal of the flora and fauna.

Up to 6 hours per day in outdoors. Very easy pace of kayaking with frequent rest and study stops.

Galveston
Galveston is rich in history, culture and a natural haven for birds and marsh inhabitants, plus it has sun, sea, and sand galore - a perfect year-round destination with temperate weather and 32 miles of Gulf Coast beach. Explore one of Texas' most historic port cities including the "New Orleans-like" Strand Historic District. It is also home to Moody Gardens - a 10-story tropical rainforest and one of the largest aquariums in the world. Program in association with Texas A and M University.

Moderate walking on flat terrain. Most rooms are on second floor of hotel, expect stairs, some first floor accommodations can be made upon request.
