WEEK 1

 

Day 1:

Morning (9 to 12)

- Orientation, Pre-test, hand out course materials

Afternoon (1 to 5)

-         Ground level ozone project

       - Construct ozone measuring devices in lab

            - Measure ambient ozone level  on campus using professional equipment
 

Day 2:

      Morning (9 to 12)

        Project WET training

      Afternoon (1 to 5)

-         Field water sampling & analysis
 

Day 3:

      Morning (9 to 12)

-         City water potable water treatment plant

Afternoon (1 to 5)

-         City wastewater treatment plant
 

Day 4:

      All Day (7 to 5)

-         Boat trip upper Trinity Bay, water sampling & seining
 

Day 5

      Morning (9 to 12)

      -     Galveston Harbor Tour water sampling & trawling

      Afternoon (1 to 5)

-         Ground level ozone monitoring, up-date activities journal, draft lesson plans
 

WEEK 2

 

Day 1:

      Morning (9 to 12)

-         Air Quality

        TCEQ Program (TCEQ Speaker)

Afternoon (1 to 5)

         Field trip to TCEQ Monitoring Station
 

Day 2:

      Morning (9 to 12)

         Speaker, John Wilson, Executive. Director, G.H.A.S.P.

      Afternoon (1 to 5)

         Field trip to Toxic Waste Incinerator (Deer Park)

  

Day 3:

       All Day (9 to 5

      Alternative Energy, Presenters from the State Energy Conservation Office

 

Day 4

        Morning (9 to 12)

-          Oil Spill Control programs, TX. General Land Office & Parks & Wildlife Dept

Afternoon (1 to 5)

- Field exercise using air boats & oil retrieval equipment

 

Day 5:

        All Day (9 to 5)

-         Post-testing & course evaluation forms

-         Presentation o Lesson Plans

 

Week 3:

 

   Finalize & submit lesson plans
