A ’82 TAMUG Marine Science and Marine Transportation Graduate, Franklin Viola, came back to the campus to give us a presentation on his underwater photography work from the Flowers Gardens NMS, Stetson Bank NMS, and Platforms in the Gulf on Mexico. Viola was named National Photographer of the Year by the British Museum of Natural History in 1994, and has had worked published in National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, and numerous Dive and Travel publications. The Reef Environmental Education Foundation Basic Caribbean Fish Identification course had a great turn out. Following the presentation, the club went to Moody Gardens for a ‘virtual dive’ and practice their newly acquired fish knowledge. |
