Dive Locker

The TAMUG dive locker serves as the logistical backbone of the TAMUG Dive Program. The dive locker houses state of the art compressors and gas storage systems that supply air and NITROX breathing gases for a variety of training and research diving demands, and is also home to an array of recreational and technical equipment that supports faculty, staff, and students in training and research diving activities. TAMUG diving equipment includes: BCD’s, regulators, dive computers, photo and video equipment, lights, reels, lift bags, and an inventory of over 100 SCUBA cylinders of various sizes.

The TAMUG dive locker supports technical and recreational SCUBA applications in reefs, cave and open ocean environments in locations that have included the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, Bermuda and Europe. The TAMUG dive locker also conducts virtually all of the university’s diving equipment service and maintenance needs, including annual regulator and breathing equipment service, cylinder inspections, and general equipment repairs.

The TAMUG dive locker also provides loaner equipment, breathing gases, and maintenance support to other regional research institutions, including NOAA (National Marine Sanctuaries and National Marine Fisheries), the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, UT-Brownsville, and TAMU College Station and TAMU Corpus Christi.
