Captain and Mrs. Jack H. Smith Academic Scholarship Awards Endowment II

Established: 2016 by Captain Jack H. Smith

Purpose: To provide scholarships for students at Texas A&M University at Galveston as follows:

  • A scholarship not to exceed $1000 to full-time students in good standing pursuing  an undergraduate degree with licensing option from the Galveston Campus at Texas A&M University.
  • A scholarship or award for the outstanding deck license option cadet who has reached junior status with a minimum of 2.75 GPA as evaluated and selected by the instructor for Shiphandling III (MART 422) during the fall and spring semester of the previous year.
  • The following criteria shall be used in selecting the cadet who through their work in the ship simulator has best demonstrated the most skills, knowledge, and aptitude for the piloting profession.
