William Merrell is the George P. Mitchell Chair of Marine Sciences at Texas A&M at Galveston and the director of the Center for Texas Beaches and Shores (CTBS). He served as the President of the H. John Heinz III Center for Science, Economic and the Environment. Dr. Robert Harriss
Bob Harriss is the newly appointed president of HARC, and is an internationally
recognized expert in community response to large-scale environmental impacts. He
is a senior scientist and former director of the Environmental and Societal
Impacts Group (ESIG) at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in
Boulder.

William Seitz is the Regents Professor and Associate Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies at Texas A&M – Galveston. Dr. Seitz has been involved in helping the University establish its first graduate program, Master’s in Marine Resources Management and an undergraduate program in Ocean and Coastal Resources. His current research interests include the analysis of beach erosion mitigation policies, geographic information system (GIS) modeling, and complexity theory. More...

Tanveer Islam has joined the CTBS in January 2007 as a PostDoctoral Research Fellow after receiving his PhD from Texas Tech. He is a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) registered at Texas Floodplain Management Association. His current research interests include risk and vulnerability analysis on natural hazards, GIS in urban and environmental applications, hurricane climatology, coastal policy and planning and sustainable urban planning. Clarissa has been with the Center for Texas Beaches and Shores since April 2006. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Environmental Science and is now pursuing master’s in Marine Resource Management at Texas A&M-Galveston. Her interests include environmental policy, beach erosion strategies and the management of coastal areas.

Stephanie Corley is a journalist, research assistant for the Center for Texas Beaches and Shores and graduate student in Marine Resource Management at Texas A&M University at Galveston. Her work has been published in newspapers throughout Texas and Mexico, online journals and quarterly arts publications. Recent contributions and credits include Salon.com, HCN newspaper network and earthhouston.net. She holds a B.A. in anthropology from Texas A&M University.
