Sarah Norman is in her second year as
a Master's candidate for the Marine Resources Management program
at Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG). Her thesis
project consists of interviews with recreational anglers along
the Central and Southern Texas coast to identify gaps in
anglers' understanding about red snapper regulations and the
science behind those regulations.
She is a Graduate Assistant -
teaching for the Marine Sciences Department at TAMUG, and a
Graduate Research Assistant - researcher for the Center for
Texas Beaches and Shores, working on a project involving
repetitive food loss claims inside and outside the floodplain
for Harris County, Texas.
In the Summer of 2010 she was a
Marine Education Associate for Texas Sea Grant, working on ocean
outreach in Galveston and the planning of the 2011 National
Ocean Sciences Bowl. She is the 2010-2011 President for
the Galveston Graduate Student Association. Sarah served
as a Biological Field Station Assistant for The Ohio State
University's F.T. Stone Laboratory in 2008 and as Assistant Lab
Manager in 2009. She is from Independence, Ohio, where her
passion for aquatic resources stemmed from fishing in Lake Erie
with her family when she was young. Her interests include
boating, fishing, camping, swimming, and traveling.
Sarah's research interests include
ecosystem-based management and human dimensions of fisheries
management.
