Traveling to Galveston Island

 

There are no commercial airports directly on Galveston Island.

The nearest airports are located in Houston, just north of Galveston. Houston is serviced by 2 airports.  Galveston Limousine Service (phone: 1-800-640-4826) provides door-to-door, daily scheduled airport shuttles from Hobby ($35 ow, $60 rt) and Bush Intercontinental ($40 ow, $70 rt) Airports to Galveston.

George H. Bush International Airport (IAH) is located on the north side of Houston and is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away from Galveston. IAH is the primary airport for Houston serving numerous domestic and international routes.

Directions from IAH to Galveston: From airport, go east on Will Clayton Pkwy to US-59. Take the US-59 S for approximately 14 miles to I-45 S. Follow I-45 for  45 miles to Galveston Island. Take Exit 1A to 61st St and West Beach. Follow 61st St until it dead ends at the Seawall. Turn left at the Seawall. The Hilton will be on your left hand side before the light for 53rd St.

 

William P Hobby Airport (HOU) is located on the south side of Houston and is approximately 35 minutes from Galveston. HOU is served by American, Delta, JetBlue, and Southwest.

 

 

Directions from Hobby to Galveston: Take I-45 S for about 36 miles to Galveston Island. Take Exit 1A to 61st St and West Beach. Follow 61st St until it dead ends at the Seawall. Turn left at the Seawall. The Hilton will be on your left hand side before the light for 53rd St.
