Q: Does TAMUG accept students with disabilities?

A: Yes. TAMUG does not discriminate on the basis of a disability.

 

Q: Does TAMUG have a special admissions policy for applicants with learning disabilities?

A: No. All students must meet the same minimum requirements for admission and go through the same competitive admissions process.

 

Q: Does TAMUG accept college entrance exams taken with accommodations for disabilities?

A: Yes.

 

Q: Am I required to reveal my disability on my application?

A: No. You provide the information only if you wish to do so.

 

Q: Does TAMUG have services for students with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder?

A: TAMUG provides classroom accommodations for documented disabilities, educational specialists are also available in the Office of Academic Enhancement.

 

Q: Can I get extended time on tests ( extended time, a reduced-distraction testing room, etc.)?

A: Approval of specific accommodations is made on an individual basis after review of documentation provided by the student.

 

Q: Can I get a waiver for the foreign language (math, PE, computer skills, etc.) requirement?

A: With current and comprehensive documentation that a disability substantially impairs the ability to learn or perform in a specific area, alternative courses may be considered to meet the requirement. Requests for modification of degree requirements should be submitted through SSD. The Documentation Review Committee will determine reasonable accommodations.

 

Q: What kinds of services does TAMUG provide for students with disabilities?

A: We provide accommodations for students with visual, hearing, mobility, and medical disabilities as well as learning and psychological disabilities, depending on the individual's documented impairment.
