Daily Ship's Report

The skies continue to be overcast as we head south into winter in the southern hemisphere. Each day gets colder and the winds have increased to 20 knots from the southeast. As the winds increase, the swells build and are now 10 feet high and predicted to get larger over the next couple of days. The effects of this weather are evident on the ship as the creaking noises caused by the rolling and pitching are constant.

Getting a taste of fresh water made from sea water today in survival class were Cadets Travis Baily, Collin Gee, Amy Luna and Bill Tracy. They were skeptical that the dark grungy liquid in the container would be drinkable, but were surprised that it was clear and did not taste bad after going through the filter. Cadets Christopher Tiefenbrunn, Josh Raines, Shaun Quinn and Rolando Maydon passed their knot tying and line splicing test today.

Keeping us safe and our ship on it's track line tonight are Cadet Watch Officers Christopher Holley, Blaine Garrity and Nials Kennedy. Cadets Michael Erskine, Jordan Higgins, and Luke Grundmeyer are steering the vessel and standing lookout watches.
