To attend the Texas Maritime Academy, you must apply to Texas A&M University at Galveston and additionally fill out the Texas Maritime Academy application.  A Physical Examination Form must also be completed and submitted (included in application file). • We have the lowest tuition/fees of all the state maritime academies.

• Cadets pay only slightly more than Texas' in-state tuition. To see the costs comparison, click here.

• Our Cadets, in addition to their unlimited Third Mate's and Third Assistant Engineer's licenses, receive their degrees from Texas A&M University, one of the top 10 engineering and science universities in the United States.

• Our Corps of Cadets is 30% women, highest of the maritime academies.

• Our Marine Transportation/Marine Engineering faculty are 100% Masters or Chief Engineer's licenses.

• The lowest student to faculty ratio, about 14 to one.

• Semi-tropical location on Pelican Island, just across the Galveston Ship Channel from Galveston Island.

• Nearby Houston metroplex, the largest petrochemical/port complex in the world.

• Port of Houston and Port of Galveston, both vital to Gulf of Mexico marine transportation industries.

• Fightin' Texas Aggie football games, the Aggie ring.
