"Courage is Grace Under Pressure" - Ernest Hemingway
Cadet Ships Orientation at Texas Maritime Academy is an introduction to a cadet's initial training as a Merchant Marine Officer. Cadets will learn how to wear a uniform, basic military courtesies and customs, how to stand a safety and security watch on the ship, basic seamanship and traditions of the University and the Academy. This orientation enables a cadet to start off with the right academic goals. In order to assure the Fish are not distracted from the task at hand, cadets will not be allowed to make telephone calls during the one-week Ships Orientation. If an emergency occurs during the Ships Orientation, the family will be contacted immediately. The Cadets will also attend one of the New Student Conferences. During these conferences, students will register for classes. Cadets are strongly advised to attend, the SALT Camp. Attendance is optional, but is recommended to ensure a great beginning to the academic experience at TAMUG. Request Info. | Schedule a Visit | Corps Application | Corps Physical
