The honor guard, commonly known as Hearn's Guard, is composed of fifteen cadets, representing the diversity of both the Texas Maritime Academy and TAMUG. Cadets were chosen to be a part of the guard based on their individual knowledge of Texas A&M and Texas Maritime Academy traditions, pride in the Corps of Cadets, precision in uniform appearance, and involvement in campus activities outside of the Corps of Cadets. Hearn's Guard represents the University, Texas Maritime Academy, and American men and women in uniform across the country and around the world. Theytake pride in their values of tradition, dedication and leadership. Hearn's Guard represent the elite members of the Corps of Cadets and hold themselves to the level of spirit and professionalism for which the Corps of Cadets is founded on. They participate in events both on and off-campus. They present a highly visual presence at TAMUG ceremonies, campus events, Galveston parades, and local ceremonies and memorial services. The saber arch orchestrated by Hearn's Guard provides an entry path which is not only impressive but also exceptional.
