Trivia

In rough seas, what will help calm the water in the event a small boat has to be put over the side of the ship?

Yesterday's  Answer:

The aurora borealis (northern lights) are located in the northern hemisphere and occurs when there is an electrical discharge in the sky.  The sky lights up or there may be flashes of lights caused by the electrical discharge.  The "merry dancers" are the streamers of light which appear in the sky.  Old time sailors called the streamers "merry dancers" because of their wild movements.

deckAt 0615, cleaning stations were inspected.  Classes started at 0800, and maintenance is painting the exterior of the ship.

Cadets and crew are excited about San Juan and looking forward to getting off the ship.  Currently, we expect to be off San Juan early on Thursday morning.  The sophomore cadets will spend the day working on their terrestrial navigation project.  This encompasses taking range and bearing from shore structures and placing the lines of positions on their charts for a fix.

Today, the weather is great.
