Trivia

What is the signal for abandon ship and fire on the ship's whistle and general alarm?

Yesterday's  Answer:
The handle of the Big Dipper points to the star Arcturus.  First, arc over to Arcturus, then speed over to Spica.

fire drillThis morning at 0800, a rainbow appeared directly in front of the ship, about 10 minutes later another rainbow appeared.  It looked as if the Texas Clipper II was going to pass through two rainbows at the same time.

At 1000, sounded the signal for fire.  Simulated fire in the forward lower cages.  Cadets dressed in full bunker gear to fight  the simulated fire.  Cadet Entzel, was the victim suffering from smoke inhalation.  He was taken to sickbay for evaluation.  At 1030, sounded the signal for abandon ship.  Boats 1 & 2 were lowered to the rail, and the engines in all the lifeboats ran for five minutes.

In the afternoon, classes were held.  In seamanship class, sophomore cadets rigged the boson's chair and practiced lowering themselves down from the top of the hanger.  Cadets Briscoe, Vechan, and Biamonte all appeared to really enjoy lowering themselves.

Ship riding easy in followin sea.
