Trivia

What does it mean for a vessel to have a lot of flam?

Yesterday's  Answer:
A flame safety lamp is old technology used to test oxygen level in a space before a person enters the space.  Spaces in which a flame safety lamp is used include tanks that had been closed for a long period of time or rusty compartments.  If the flame went out, there was less than 16% oxygen in the space.  Normal oxygen content is 21% in the air.

sextantThis morning cadets were able to shoot stars.  The weather is beautiful with calm seas and clear skies.  After formation, cadets on maintenance started washing the exterior decks and this afternoon the cadets started painting the flybridge.  Other cadets did routine maintenance and inspected fire stations.

In class, the sophomores and juniors worked on knots, whipping the ends of lines and splicing.  Seniors took a license prep test this afternoon.

Engine cadets have been working with the chief engineer on the inventory of spare parts for the ship.

Currently, we are in the Bay of Biscay, 120 miles north of Lacoruna, Spain.
