Trivia

What is the nautical definition of the term "chow-chow"?

Yesterday's Answer:
Eyebrows are located over portholes and consist of a metal protruding from the hull or superstructure to keep rainwater from running down the porthole.

cleaning stationAfter the 0755 formation, cadets reported to their cleaning station for a field day.  This morning and afternoon cadets are giving their cleaning stations a very thorough cleaning which includes polishing all brass, stripping/waxing the decks, cleaning overhead pipes and bulkheads.  Surprisingly, the cadets really enjoy field days because it gives the cadets, from seniors to sophomores, time to work together as a team and get to know each other.  This team building exercise occurs prior to entering the port or when the captain deems a thorough cleaning necessary.

The weather has been excellent and the cadets were up early this morning shooting stars.  The engine cadets have been building pipe racks in the hold and washing fittings off the deck.

This morning, dolphins were spotted jumping in front of the ship.  Today is a beautiful sunny day with calm sea and the ocean water is a deep blue color.
