Type of award: $300 check
Criteria for selection: Any worthy individual who will pursue a seagoing career in the maritime field. Preference given to residents of Brazoria County. Recipients eligible for consecutive awards at the discretion of the Committee. This scholarship was funded as the last project of the Propeller Club of Freeport, Texas.

JIM AND BETTY STERLING SCHOLARSHIP 

Eligible students: MARBLO, MARSLO, MART
Number of awards: 1
Nominated by: A committee consisting of the Commandant of Cadets, Officer in Charge of Naval Science Department, and the Director of Financial Aid.
Type of award: $500 check and name on permanent plaque
Criteria for selection: Sophomore in NROTC, MMR, or USNR programs preparing him/herself for commission in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Strong potential for leadership in the Corps of Cadets and success as an officer in the Naval Reserve. Resident of the State of Texas with demonstrated financial need.

DON HALE MEMORIAL MARINE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

Eligible students: Marine engineering major

Nominations by: the MARE Department. Selection made by the Hale family.
Type of award: $1,000
Criteria for selection: Junior. Financial need. Grade point average. May be renewed during senior year if academic progress satisfactory.

BUBB RUDD SCHOLARSHIPS

Eligible students: Juniors in a License Option program
Number of awards: 2
Nominated by: Corps Office and selected from among nominees by the Club
Type of award: $1,000 each
Criteria for selection: Must be from southeast Texas. If no candidates, any Texas resident may be considered. If no Texas residents, any undergraduate student may be considered. Financial and academic standing count equally.
Other information: Awarded annually by the Propeller Club of the United States - Port of Sabine in memory of J. C. "Bubb" Rudd, one of the founding fathers of the Texas Maritime Academy.

Eligible students: Incoming freshmen in one of the License Option programs

Selection by : Freshman Sub-Committee
Type of award: $3,000; $1,000 per semester and $1,000 for the summer cruise
Criteria for selection: Academic achievement, extracurricular involvement and personal essay. A full time 3.0 GPA must be maintained each semester to retain for up to 4 years.

Criteria for selection: Explorer scouts recently graduated from high school; can be used only to participate in the TAMUG Summer School at Sea. Selected by Boy Scouts of America headquarters. January 1 deadline.
