Sea Aggie Band

Cadet Training Officer, Maj Wayne Bertrand (Ret)
Commander Jim Sterling
Music is an important part of our lives, and it resonates
with humans through different genres. Music expresses peoples’ joys,
their fears, their comforts, their associations with other humans, their
connection to nature (in the case of Texas A&M University at Galveston, our
connection with the sea), their life experiences, and their life expectations.
With these well documented observations in mind, Texas A&M University at Galveston is developing the Sea Aggie Band. Our band is a brass, woodwind, and percussion group consisting of students from the Corps of Cadets, as well as from the civilian student populace. Our band members enjoy performing various arrangements under the direction of Commander Jim Sterling, class of ’71. Our plans for the band include playing at a professional naval association meeting, Dickens On The Strand, Mardi Gras, and Moody Gardens. Band members in the Corps of Cadets will also perform at Corps parades and formations.
If you have an interest in joining the Sea Aggie Band, please contact Major Wayne Bertrand at 409-741-4380, or send an e-mail to bertranw@tamug.edu.
