Corps Scholarships Awards

1. Captain JL "Buster" Vaughn Memorial Scholarship  1

This scholarship is awarded by Stanley Vaughn to a deserving Maritime midshipman in memory of his father, Captain JL "Buster" Vaughn.

2. Capt Mark Hicks Memorial Scholarship  1

This scholarship is in memory of Captain Mark Hicks, a graduate of the US merchant Marine Academy and Harbor Pilot for the Port of Freeport. This scholarship was endowed as the final activity of the Propeller Club of the Port of Freeport.

3. JC "Bubb" Rudd Memorial Scholarship  2

Mr. JC "Bubb" Rudd was one of the founding fathers of the Texas A&M Maritime Academy. This scholarship was established by the Port of Sabine Propeller Club in memory of JC "Bubb" Rudd, to recognize outstanding Midshipmen from the Southeast Texas area.

4. The Dave & Jeanne Hedgepeth DP Scholarship

These awards go to the outstanding Seniors who have successfully completed all of their dynamic positioning requirements.

5. Buddy and Linda Fredrickson Endowed Scholarship  1

Top Junior Midshipman enrolled in the Marine Engineering department. The midshipman was selected based on his outstanding grades and leadership abilities.

6. Association of Ship Brokers and Agents Scholarship  1

This Scholarship is for the outstanding Midshipman who advances the standards and fosters the ideals of professional conduct, among the maritime trade industry.

7. Captain Karl P. Fanning Outstanding A&M Maritime Academy Graduating Senior Scholarship – 1

This award goes to the outstanding maritime Midshipman based upon academic achievement, extracurricular activities and financial need.

8. Captain Karl P. Fanning Propeller Club Endowed Scholarship – 1

This award will go to the most outstanding incoming cadet in the Propeller Club, based on academics and leadership skills.

9. Tug Valor Memorial Scholarship – 1

This award recognizes two outstanding Midshipmen in the License Option program who has demonstrated strong leadership, high academics and a persistence to succeed.

10. Thomas B. Crowley, Sr. Memorial Scholarship – 1

This scholarship is in memory of Capt Thomas B. Crowley, Sr. that reflects his love of the sea, his dedication to his friends, and his persistence to succeed. This scholarship rewards the maritime Midshipman who has a can-do attitude, is proud to be a member of the Maritime Team and can use the financial assistance.

11. Conoco Phillips Scholarship – 3

This scholarship is geared toward Midshipmen with an interest in the energy industry, who are looking for outstanding challenges and who seek opportunities that are commensurate with their skills and abilities.

12. G&H Towing Scholarship – 4

This award is given to those Midshipmen from the DECK and Engineering curriculum, who love the sea and want to have a career in the Brown Water industry.

13. William Paul Ricker Memorial Regiment Commander Scholarship – 1

Recipient of the William Paul Ricker Memorial Regiment Commander Scholarship was selected by the Superintendent and the Commandant of the Texas A&M Maritime Academy. 

14. Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP)

The Texas Armed Services Scholarship has been created to assist promising students from throughout the state who are committed to education and service. It encourages young leaders to participate in the Texas Guard, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard, or to become commissioned officers in the United States armed services. Read more.
