About Our Services    

The Commons is the hub of campus life, learning, and activity providing one-stop-shopping for academic support and enrichment services to meet the curriculum, research, professional, intellectual, creative and personal needs of the TAMUG community and other information seekers.

Located at the center of campus, The Commons houses the Learning Commons, Teaching Commons, and Research Commons and supports Honors Program and the Undergraduate Research Program. These services are centered on student and faculty learning and improvement and offer instruction for individuals, small groups, and classes through tutoring and workshops.

Learning Commons

Providing free Tutoring for students through 1-on-1, small group, and large group student-led sessions with Learning Consultants who are trained to guide students through academic coursework outside of the classroom while promoting academic growth, career success, and lifelong learning.

Research Commons

The Research Commons connects students to research sources and best practices including databases, books and e-books, peer-reviewed journals and professional trade publications. Sharing information about research strategies through information literacy and one-on-one sessions ties classroom learning into life-long learning.

Honors Program

The defining characteristics of Honors study at Texas A&M University is engagement of interdisciplinary topics in small classes with professors dedicated to teaching and engaged in research.

 

Undergraduate Research

The TAMUG Undergraduate Research program values intellectual and creative scholarship and research as a high impact learning experience that will ultimately enhance knowledge through hands-on application and making contributions towards solving ocean-centered “real world” problems that impact marine wildlife and resources, coastal communities, maritime industries and infrastructure.

Who We Are

Learning Commons Faculty and Staff are thought leaders and knowledge managers and contribute to Campus learning outcomes and leaders in the fields such as active learning strategies, study tools, reference services, student worker high impact practices, tutoring, undergraduate research, peer services and service learning.
