  • B.S., Montana State University, 1970; Ph.D., University of Illinois, 1975.

  • Research Interests: I am interested in a variety of problems in theoretical chemistry. Recent research has focused on the development of effective model Hamiltonians which can be used to study the properties of organic polymers. Another major research component has been the effort to understand the structure and properties of hollow carbon fullerene molecules.  Other work has concerned the nature of aromaticity in chemistry, the interactions of molecules with magnetic fields, and the dynamics of chemical reactions. Effort is devoted both to the development of new concepts and theories, and to the use of these theories in numerical computations. This latter aspect emphasizes the use of modern computers and the development of efficient numerical methods.
