Living On-Campus 101    HOWDY!

At Texas A&M University at Galveston, the friendly, casual life style is coupled with ocean related activities to keep you enjoying the Sea Aggie life.

Just prior to beginning your academic classes at TAMUG, you will attend SALT Camp, to meet your classmates and learn about Aggie Traditions. During the first week of school, you will attend Organizations Night, and begin making lifelong friends.
There are more than 60 clubs and organizations to involve you in your campus and community. Over $70 million has been spent in recent years to build new science and engineering facilities. The amazing Galveston Island community offers historical significance, ocean front beauty and semitropical weather.

Aggie Traditions keep the spirit alive. We celebrate the time honored traditions of Texas A&M, as well as special traditions that incorporate the ocean oriented TAMUG campus. Traditions include 12th Man, the Aggie Ring, the Anchor, the Bonfire Memorial, Elephant Walk, Gig 'Em, Howdy, Maritime Ball, Maroon Out, Muster, Reveille, Midnight Yell Practice and Silver Taps.

Intramural sports include the basics of softball, soccer, basketball and flag football, and Sea Aggie unique sports such as inner tube water polo. Organizations and activities such as Big Event make an impact beyond campus with community service. Sailing and Rowing (Crew) are offered as intercollegiate competition. No prior experience is needed to join these student organizations and learn how to sail or row.

On-campus living as a Sea Aggie is getting involved. About 850 students live in five Residence Halls at the Mitchell Campus. New students are required to live in campus housing, although they may request permission to move off-campus. The campus Dining Services offers a variety of options. Members of the Texas Maritime Academy live in two residence halls on Texas Clipper Road.

New students should return the Housing Application with the $300 deposit as soon as they are admitted. Students who complete the Housing Application before March 1 are given priority status. Housing Alert! Texas law requires that incoming students who live on campus must provide evidence of vaccination against bacterial meningitis at least 10 days prior to living on campus. Proof is required to be submitted with the TAMUG Housing Application.  So please Get the Shot!
