Complete your application: Complete and submit the on-line Texas Common application at www.applytexas.org. Send us your application fee of $45, ACT or SAT scores (written portion required), all transcripts, essay A and B, C is optional.

Activate your NetID. After you have applied, you will use your NetID to login to many campus resources. Go to https://services.tamu.edu/netid-activate/

Track your Status. If you are applying for the Fall 2010 semester, you may check your admissions status at the website http://applicanttamug.tamu.edu.

If you are interested in participating in the Texas Maritime Academy, another application and physical will be submitted. All Marine Transportation majors must join the Texas Maritime Academy License Option program.

State of Texas Uniform Admission Policy

Texas Education Code (TEC) 51.803-51.809 ( State of Texas Uniform Admission Policy)
requires that all students meet one of the following standards in order to be eligible
to be considered for admission at a Texas Four-Year Public Institution.

Successfully complete the recommended or advanced/distinguished
high school program or complete the portion of the program that was available
to them; or
Successfully complete a curriculum that is equivalent in content and rigor
to the recommended or advanced/distinguished high school program at
a high school that is exempt from offering such programs; or
Satisfy the College Readiness Benchmarks on the SAT or ACT assessment
- SAT – 1500 out of 2400 (Verbal + Math + Writing)
- ACT – 18 English, 21 Reading, 22 Mathematics and 24 Science

Exemptions from the Policy
To claim an exemption from the Policy, students must submit one of the two
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board exemption forms completed by
the high school counselor or other school official in addition to all other required
credentials for admission by the January 15th closing date.
The forms below can be printed and submitted via the instructions on either two forms.

Checking your Admissions Status

If you are applying for the Spring or Fall 2010 semester, you may check your admissions status at the website http://applicanttamug.tamu.edu.

You will need your UIN and birth date (or social security number).
Please be sure that you have paid the application fee for Texas A&M University at Galveston ($45.00) and completed all essays.
If you have not graduated from high school, and are taking dual credit courses at another college, we will not require the transcript until the courses are complete. Your file will still be reviewed without the college transcript. Please contact our Office of Admissions at 409.740.4415 for any questions you may have.

Tests Required of New Students
Texas A&M University at Galveston requires the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Testing Program (ACT) test as a part of its admission procedures for all freshman applicants and transfer students with less than 31 graded hours. When registering for these tests, students should designate that the results be sent to Texas A&M University at Galveston (Code 6835 for SAT and Code 6592 for ACT). Written portion must be completed.

Provisional Admission (Bridge Program)
A limited number of freshmen applicants who are not admitted through the regular admissions procedures, but whose academic backgrounds suggest a potential for success, may be offered admissions through the Bridge Program. If too many applicants request this option, those with the most promising previous academic performance combined with the most desirable additional credentials (see review criteria) will be offered this option. Applicants from underrepresented Texas high schools whose credentials suggest they have the potential for success are given preference in the provisional admission decision process.
