Dr. Rowe, a Regents Professor, has served as the department head for Marine Biology at Texas A&M University at Galveston since 2003. His research focuses on the ecology of organisms that live on the seafloor, cycling of organic carbon and nitrogen, coupling between processes on the sea floor and plankton, and mathematical simulations of deep-ocean food webs. In addition to his administrative and research work, Dr. Rowe teaches Fisheries Population Dynamics. He earned a bachelors of Science degree from Texas A&M University in Zoology, a masters of Science degree from Texas A&M University in Oceanography, and a doctorate from Duke University in Zoology. Prior to coming to Texas A&M University at Galveston, Dr. Rowe was an Oceanography professor at Texas A&M University in College Station for fifteen years. Five of those years he was the head of the Oceanography Department.
