Approved Exams & Scores for TSI Compliance

Students that have not met standards in math, reading, or writing, should take one of the approved exams (listed below) at any official college/university testing center as soon as possible or they will not be eligible for enrollment in college-level coursework. Please note that the THEA is only offered at public Texas institutions. All other exams are nationally recognized and should be available in most states.

ASSET 38 41 40 + 5
COMPASS 39 81 59 + 5
ACCUPLACER 63 78 80 + 5

*If Writing Sample score is 6 or higher, then pass Writing portion even if Grammar score is 0.
Once you have taken an exam, please fax test scores to (409)741-4344 or email to ACEN@tamug.edu and confirm that your status has been updated in the system.


Texas A&M University at Galveston offers the ACCUPLACER Exam as an alternative to the THEA test.
