Dune Establishment

Dune Establishment

Once the Sargassum has been fully compacted and bailed, one will dig out a portion of a dune, spreading that removed sand across the natural aerial beach, then compacted seaweed bails are put back into the partially removed dune and then covered with new sand, providing a large internal structure that doesn’t degrade as quickly, by compacting it, it reduces air flow, and thus reduces degradation rates. The Sargassum bails integrate nutrients into the dunes to encourage vegetation to grow over time and also provides an anchor for it to cling to.
