I am originally from New Mexico, but I graduated from the University of Maine in May 2016 with my bachelor’s in Marine Science and a concentration in Biology. During my undergrad I worked closely with Marine Mammals of Maine stranding network in an attempt to better understand the rebound of gray seal populations in Northern New England. I am now pursuing a master’s degree in Marine Biology, and am interested broadly in ocean health and conservation. I am especially interested in marine contaminants and sentinel species. I joined Dr. Quigg’s lab in an effort to gain valuable experience, to utilize and maintain the skills I currently possess, and to learn new laboratory techniques. I currently assist with the Galveston Bay Project by conducting photopigment analyses using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
