About the Marine Biology Graduate Program

The Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Marine Biology was approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board late July 2008. The interdisciplinary program spans 3 campuses of Texas A&M University System and 6 Departments. The host department of the program is the Department of Marine Biology (www.marinebiology.edu) on the Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) campus. The Department of Marine Science (www.tamug.edu/mars) is also located on the TAMUG campus. The Departments of Oceanography (ocean.tamu.edu), Wildlife & Fisheries Science (http://wfscnet.tamu.edu/), and Biology (www.bio.tamu.edu) participate in the program on the College Station campus (TAMU). The Department of Life Sciences is located on the Texas A&M - Corpus Christi campus (TAMUCC; lsci.tamucc.edu).

The Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Marine Biology offers a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree, a master's thesis degree (M.S.), and a non-thesis master's degree. The Ph.D. and M.S.- thesis degrees are research related and interested students should seek out and contact potential research advisors in the area of their interests before applying to the program. The websites listed above are great resources for finding faculty members in the area of your research interest. Applicants should work closely with their advisors regarding application requirements.
