I am working for Oceaneering, just outside of Washington D.C., as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.  Our office is responsible for the operation of search and recovery systems for SUPSALV.  Our office is also acting as the engineering and integration manager for the Navy's new submarine rescue diving and recompression system (SRDRS).  This is the system that will replace the Navy's current submarine rescue assets (DSRV's).  I am the technical lead for the SRDRS remotely operated vehicle that will mate with the submarine and rescue crew.  This summer I crewed on my fire departments's fireboat providing escort service for OpSail 2000 when they came to Baltimore and Annapolis.  Since leaving Texas A&M I have primarily worked on Navy manned submersible systems.  For over 10 years I was one of three Project Engineers responsible for the maintenance and repair of the Navy's submersible's TURTLE and SEA CLIFF.  I also did a year's tour with Military Sealift COmmand-Pacific as a Port Engineer for the USNS CATAWBA (T-ATF 168) while stationed in the Arabian Gulf.  I found out the surface fleet was not for me and returned to submersibles as a Sr. Engineer working on the Adavnced SEAL Delivery System (ASDS).  For my 40th birthday I qualified as an operator of a K250 submersible.

"After graduation, I went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in the middle of a coral reef. There I worked on a variety of projects; including population ecology of invertebrates to spawning sex-changing fish. While working on my MSc, I got married to Dave Jones (1987 MARB). After finishing our MSc, we moved to Miami. We were married for 5 years, then divorced. While in Miami, I worked at the University of Miami/RSMAS in several labs. I worked and published several papers; including one on spawning coral. In 1996 I meet my wonderful husband, Ed Reiller. I also had a job as a permit specialist working as a biological consultant for an engineering firm. We moved in 1999 to Ithaca, NY where my husband was accepted to Cornell Vet School. This is the same time I “retired” from marine biology. My husband graduated DVM in 2003 and got a job in Buffalo, NY. I currently teach in the education department of the Buffalo Zoo."

“After graduation, I spent 2 years with GE in Houston servicing gas and steam turbines. Moved to St. Croix, USVI, in 1979 and worked as gas turbine engineer at the Hess refinery for five years. A few years more as Port Engineer for General Offshore there, and started farming, too! Got married to my lovely wife, Karen, in STX and had our first child. We moved to Arkansas in 1992 and live on a farm there. We have two children now. I sort of thought they shut the school down after what the class of '77 did, but if anyone wants, I'd like to hear from ya'll.

In 1979 I moved to Baltimore, Maryland and became a partner in the Association of Maryland Pilots. I have been a Chesapeake Bay Pilot for 23 years. I have a son who is at "The Citadel", the military Academy of the SOUTH and a daughter who will start her first year at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. I am probably the first in my class to have Open Heart Surgery but would like to hear from anyone who can take that title away from me. The best to all who read this."

"Howdy everyone!
What a busy couple of years have passed since graduation/commissioning in the Navy.
After Graduation and a short time at the Navy's Surface Warfare School in Newport, Rhode Island, I reported for duty as Gunnery Officer on USS MOOSBRUGGER (DD-980), a destroyer home ported in Mayport, Florida. Shortly thereafter, I deployed as part of a NATO multi-national battle group to the North Atlantic. After returning from deployment, I reported for duty on the USS MCINERNEY (FFG-8), a guided missile frigate also stationed in Mayport where I served as Navigator. On MCINERNEY, I deployed twice to the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean, in support of counter narco-terrorism operations, and in support of UNITAS (a joint naval operation between the navies of the U.S., Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru). In June, I was promoted to Lieutenant and accepted orders to teach navigation, seamanship and ship handling at the Navy's Surface Warfare Officer's school back up here in Rhode Island."

Tommy and I are currently in Hawaii where he is a LTJG in the USN Civil Engineer Corps and where I work as a dolphin trainer in an interactive program. I also cross-train other animals. I have been working hard to be a successful Club President and was able to have Don Powell from College Station speak at the 1999 Muster.
Tommy and I enjoy year-round sailing and surfing with our daughter, Meagan. She is a boisterous 4 year old that is the highlight of our everyday.  We expect to be moving to the mainland during summer 2000.  I look forward to seeing some of my former professors at upcoming marine mammal conventions/symposiums.

Since leaving Hawaii several years ago, we've been to the Gulf Coast, Wisconsin, back to Texas, and are now living in Italy.  I earned a Professional Engineering license in civil engineering in Wisconsin and a graduate degree in civil engineering at UT-Austin.  Our daughter Megan is now 10 and our son Sammy was born in May.  Megan is very active and this year started swimming against other kids from all over Europe.

"After spending a few years working in the environmental remediation industry in Houston TX, I decided to pursue graduate studies in chemistry. To make a long story short...I finished the Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Texas in Austin where I concentrated on the development of novel biosensing devices. I was then hired as a staff scientist at a company in Santa Fe, New Mexico where we are currently developing hand-held sensing devices for bio-warfare agents. Life is good here in New Mexico although I miss the heck out of my home state Texas. I am luckily married to a wonderful girl I met in Galveston and have two cats and a dog. Although the job is great and we enjoy living out in the high-desert country, my plans are to someday make it back to Texas. Who knows...maybe I can get a job at TAMUG teaching some chemistry courses and show those little whipper-snappers how it's supposed to be done :} Peace."

After graduation in May 1996, I returned to Oregon where I got a job as a Bridge Inspector for state and federal construction projects at the Oregon Dept. of Transportation. In early 1998 I met my wife-to-be, and our daughter, Jennifer, was born in July of 1999. We finally got married in the summer of 2000. In January of 2001 I took a promotion and became a Bridge Designer with ODOT. In November of 2004 I accepted another promotion and am now a Bridge Load Rating Engineer.

Although I only spent one year at TAMUG, I still have fond memories of the campus and the people I met there. After my freshman year (1977-78), I spent two years working at a variety of jobs before returning to school at Concordia University, NE to major in Secondary Education, history and biology. I have taught in a number of schools and am now Director of Guidance at Lincoln Lutheran Jr/Sr High School in Lincoln, NE. I have not been back to Galveston for almost 18 years, but hope to do so in the near future and show my family the area.
