I really love the work, and I plan to stay with it, and in Houston, for a while. I live in La Porte, Texas, right on the bay, and spend about 9 months of the year out of the country.”

" I graduated from Texas A&M at Galveston in December 1981. In 1982 I found a job in Houston at an environmental engineering company as a biologist/scientist/lab tech. I've been in Houston since and now consider it my home. I worked for the Texas Water Commission as an inspector for two years and for Harding Lawson Associates as environmental programs manager for four years. In 1991, I went to work at Schlumberger as environmental manager and from 1998 to 2001 traveled the world ensuring environmental compliance for the company. I marred the nicest guy alive in 2001, a widower with three children, and retired from Schlumberger to be a homemaker. My goal in life is to be the best step-mom ever. I have had the best of both worlds, having had a wonderful 20-year career and now getting to be a "stay-at-home" soccer mom!!! We have four dogs (my golden retriever and yellow lab, my children's Bichon Frise, and OUR chocolate lab) and two cats (yuk!!). I have a '66 mustang that I am in the process of restoring. I am learning to play the mandolin, have a new appreciation for soccer, and I love to garden and redecorate the house. We have a beach house in Pirates Beach, Galveston, so I still get down there and remember my marine biology roots! Life is good."

9/23/04

I have a great job. My employers have a lot of faith in me and give me many challenging shipyard projects to run.

I bought a house on four acres in my home town of Katy, Texas. That’s a lot of grass to mow for a sailor.

Just suffered a separated shoulder injury while skiing in Taos, NM. I had to leave the drillship in the shipyard in Salvador, Brazil after five months to recuperate.

I am taking it easy pushing paper in the Regulatory and Compliance Department. It gives my plenty of time with ABS, USCG, DNV, BV and the others regulating all of our lives on the water.

I am writing to you all from Signal Internationals shipyard in Pascagoula, MS. I wonder if Mike, or Henry Picu’s a pilot here yet?

Hope you all are great and if you are looking for some great work in the oil patch, check out Noble Drilling."

After graduation I got a job with an environmental laboratory in Dallas where I worked for 5 years.  I then worked for a financial company in downtown Dallas for 2 years before landing my current job at Nortel Networks.Last year (1999) I bought a house in Rockwall, which is about 20 miles east of Dallas on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard where I spend a lot of time sailing. Living in Rockwall is great and everynight on my way home from work as I drive across the
lake, I can't help but feel that I am escaping from the everyday hectic life of the city.

Dale Hubbard '93

"After TAMUG I got my MS in Chemical Oceanography at Oregon State University, where I was subsequently hired as a faculty research assistant by my advisor, Bob Collier. Initially, my research focused on geochemistry & paleoceanography, mostly centered around manganese nodules & crusts and hydrothermal vents. Currently I’m working for Burke Hales, and my research involves investigating nutrient and CO2 dynamics in upwelling systems. My job is great—it allows me to do hands-on science without having to spend 60 hours/wk in my office writing grant proposals. It also allows me many opportunities for travel. I focus solely on the science side of science, not the political side, and I enjoy being able to hang up my hat at 5PM and do other things. One of my career highlights so far was the opportunity to go on a dive on the Alvin submersible on the Southern East Pacific Rise, N of Easter Island, to a depth of almost 3000 meters. Oceanographic cruises to the Arctic and to the Southern Ocean are among other job perks I’ve been blessed with.
I’m still completely addicted to surfing, and I go whenever I can. Unfortunately, I’m a “valley,” and live ~1 hour from the beach. But I often get to surf big, cold, uncrowded waves with only a couple of bros and a few sea lions (and the next higher step in the food web) for company. When the surf sucks you can find me climbing/skiing/snowboarding in the Cascades, mountain biking, skating the local skate park, fishing for steelhead, picking mushrooms (not like on Bol9ivar & Bermuda Beach…I’m talking about chanterelles & Boletes), brewing beer, playing my geetar, etc."

Not sure about what I wanted to do, I ended up in Fort Lauderdale, looking for work in the maritime field. I wound up getting a job as a flight attendant with a local charter airline. Well it has been interesting...
I graduated and took 2 months off, didn't sail with Veritas, decided to stay ashore and worked in Houston selling survey grade positioning systems for about nine months and then decided that I need to be a Veterinarian and now I am on the road to Vet school.  I am going to Tarleton State to do the biology that I missed out on and will be applying in the fall of 2001 to TAMU.  I am working for my dad (DVM) in Weatherford as a Vet tech and will be moving to Stephenville in the spring because this hour drive is CRAZY.  Email me =)

We bought a house out a little West of Chicago in a town called Yorkville and are loving it. In the last year so much has happened. In June, Sara and I went on our delayed honeymoon to London, England. We had a blast, saw the Queen twice and spent 10 days on one continuous pub crawl. Mardi Gras, Propeller Club, Cruise Port Calls, Foam, O'Malley's and OCB were all good training. Sara is back in school at Aurora University majoring in English with a minor in History. I am back in school as well pursuing an Executive MBA through Northern Illinois University. Sara and I are set to graduate in May/June 2003. Well, that's the short of it.
