I've been in Melbourne, Florida for 5 years and got married in 1999 to my high school sweetheart, David. We had a son, Brandon, on April 1, 2002 and he's the light of our lives.

I'm currently working my sixth right whale calving season coordinating nearly 800 volunteers in East Florida to report whale sightings to my hotline so we can protect them from ship collisions. I am currently going through large whale disentanglement training and hope I never need to use it, but look forward to it if it's needed!

I'd like to return to Galveston for the Sea Aggie Reunion in April /05!

I am a teacher at Clear Lake High School, I teach biology and ipc to sophmores thru seniors – and I absolutely love it! It’s really awesome. I have a beautiful little girl named Ella Ocean, cause I’m still in love with the sea – I fell in love with the sea at Galveston. My "kids" (students) love it when I share my memories of college in Galveston – about the "roamin’ empire" and involvement with the stranding network, about adventures of being in the sail club an entering and somehow actually finishing the harvest moon regatta, about being knee deep in mud when taking snail population samples out along the wetlands in the bay for marine ecology, and about how pollution sure makes for a beautiful sunset over Texas City when I looked out my dorm window from Pelican Island. And when these kids complain about a page or two of notes, I think of invert zoology and Dr Harper and just laugh at them. So I plan on sending as many as I can down there, they will love it! I did!

Howdy,
I'm currently half way through my first year of law school at Tulane.  After sailing on tankers for the last 3 years it has been an adjustment going back to school.  I want to concentrate on maritime/admiralty law and Tulane offers the best program in the nation.  My wife and I are renting a 3-bedroom house in uptown New Orleans, it is great!  I can be reached at lab5@gateway.net.Dan

While at Tulane I served as Editor in Chief of Volume 27 of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal and as President of the Maritime Law Society. I accepted an associate position with Legge, Farrow, Kimmit, McGrath & Brown LLP in Houston and began working in September of 2003. I practice in the areas of maritime and commercial litigation. My wife and I recently purchased a house and live in West Houston, a few miles to the west of the Galleria."

As of January 2005 I was promoted to an Assistant Professor at UCI. I am shifting my research towards clinical spinal cord injury, in contrast to my previous focus on animal laboratory work, so that in the future I can form a bridge between the basic science and clinical research fields. The most recent development is that I have become an active member of the World Spine Society and will be visiting Brazil this summer! Also, my latest hobby is skydiving and I jump as often as I can!

Graduated in 1995 and was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy. Reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for flight training. Went through primary flight training at NAS Corpus Christi, TX. Married Carolina Soto on board the Tall Ship Elissa in Galveston on May 11, 1996. We moved back to Pensacola and I went through helicopter flight training at NAS Whiting Field, FL and received my wings in May 1997 as well as a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade. Transferred to NAS North Is., San Diego, CA to the Fleet Replacement Squadron for the CH-46D Helicopter for more flight training. In May 1998 I graduated from the FRS and was transferred to the island of Guam and Helicopter combat Support Squadron Five (HC-5). We’ve lived here for 2 years now and we’re really enjoying it. I’m the Assistant Operations Officer at HC-5 and Carolina works at a local construction company as a proposal coordinator, computer programmer and small business consultant. I’ve made two six month deployments on the USS Belleau Wood, and amphibious assault ship, participating in operation Desert Fox in the Persian Gulf and Operation Warden in East Timor. I’ve also done a short deployment on the USNS Niagara Falls, an auxillary food ship. HC-5 provides helicopters for deployments aboard ships to provide cargo transfer and search and rescue (SAR) capabilities as well SAR support for Guam and all the Marianas Islands. I was promoted to Lieutenant in June 1999. I’m really enjoying the opportunity to surf all over the world and I’m looking forward to moving onto graduate school in the future where I intend to continue my education in the field of Marine Biology.

Well, I’ve really decided to use my Marine Biology to its fullest by moving to Fort Worth. I live in complete jealousy of Leslie Whaylen’s job and have almost convinced myself that she really didn’t get where she is now because of all her hard work and years of studying, but rather because of the superb influence on her by her college roommate (me).I have a wonderful family, my husband, Tobin, who spent a semester at TAMUG is teaching and coaching at a local high school. My daughter is in 2nd grade and is a graceful ballerina. I work for an environmental laboratory doing metals testing on soils, water, and just about anything else you can think of.

I just finished my comprehensive exams (for my Ph. D) last week. I passed. Needless to say I am thrilled, and thrilled to have that part of my life over with. The writtens took 3 weeks and the orals most of a day. It was horrible and I never want to go through anything like it again. I am aiming to finish my research and therefore my degree by Dec. of 2001. Also, I took a position working for MS State University (I went/go to school at Ole Miss). I hope to be promoted into an Assistant Professor position sometime in the late summer or early fall (when I’m almost finshed with my degree).

"After graduation, Bill Glenn and I got married. It ended up not working out but it was an amicable split. I took alot of art classes at Galveston College and got hooked. I sailed on the Gyre for 2.5 years, which was great because we traveled alot and did some cool research. After that I went to Austin to UT to finish up an art degree - and decided I couldn't live as an artist so I got my teaching certificate. That took two years and when I got out I had met Jeff, moved to Houston to teach but didn't realize I was so much in love, we got married during the year and I moved back to Austin. I began teaching elementary art and did this for 8 years. During this time we tried to have kids but couldn't, so we adopted our son Michael from Russia-what a fabulous experience that was going there and all....Not 3 months after we were home from Russia I got pregnant. Had Sam! and I quit work..sort of. I have my own daycare business--it is hard work but I love the kids. Last, a big surprise--last year we had Jack. This is definitely the las baby for me! Maybe one will be a sailor I hope. So I haven't done any great magnificant feats but I have a great family and lots of good friends...I sure would like to hear from my college friends too....Love Jennifer"

My husband Brian and I are currently building a new home, which will be completed in August. I am an oceanographer with the Navy (not in the Navy). I have been here for 5 years and love my job. Unlike most of the office, I have the ability to volunteer for sea duty on one of our 7 or so ships which survey the worlds oceans. I have been to the Mediterranean Sea (Italy and Crete), the Curacao (island off of Venezuela), and most recently, Gabon, Africa. I plan on traveling to meet a ship in Asia next year. I am working on a Masters in GIS from USM (University of Southern Mississippi). Last year (99) I was awarded a medal of honor, in fact one of the highest awarded to civilians by the government, called the Meritorious Civilian Service Award. I was awarded due to my leadership and the contributions of my team to the Crisis.

"I have had an interesting life, to say the least. Wait, isn't that an old Chinese curse? To make it short, and leaving out numerous and varied jobs scattered around in between these major experiences; I left A&M, joined the Army (101st ABN DIV); got married, had kids, got divorced, became a nurse, got married, had more kids, got divorced (is there a pattern there?). Still work as a nurse, all nicely settled and domesticated, much to the surprise of those who knew me in my wilder days, surprise! Have a little farm, raise dairy goats, make cheese and handcrafted soaps, spend all my time with my kids who are my world. I do love to hear of the rest of the world now and then, so any TAMUG folks from the 76-77 era who have some memory of me, drop me an email!"
